Lize Jacobs was born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa, where she still resides. She has been writing since she could remember, not knowing that being a writer was who she truly was.
She has worked in the video industry for many years; Producing, Directing, Filming, Editing, and Script-writing. But her love for film has allowed her to Produce, Direct and Write several acclaimed short films over the years.
Privileged enough to have been able to travel overseas, to places like Alaska, Mexico, Tuscany, Munich, London, Paris and several African Countries, she has discovered a love for other cultures and the stories hidden in foreign locations.

A friend of mine said to put a woman in the middle of the biggest music concert in Europe. I then had to figure out who this woman was, why was she there, and what was her goal. It all came together from there. The first draft of my book was finished when I completed 50 000 words in 30 days!(less)

Who are your three greatest literary influences, and why?

Lize Jacobs First, I would say Jane Austin. Her ability to portray a detailed story and rich characters with mainly dialogue is astounding.
Secondly, Aaron Sorkin…moreFirst, I would say Jane Austin. Her ability to portray a detailed story and rich characters with mainly dialogue is astounding.
Secondly, Aaron Sorkin (the writer of TV series' such as the 'Newsroom' and films such as 'The American President') His talent for clever, intelligent dialogue, that makes you laugh and think at such a fast rate, still baffles my mind. I love intelligent comedy with a message.
Thirdly, Amy Sherman-Palladino (Writer of TV series' such as 'Gilmore Girls' and 'Bunheads') Her dialogue is quirky, clever, fast and if you blink, you'll miss the comedy.
See a pattern here? I love dialogue and the artistry in writing it well.
I'm throwing in one more, just for kicks. Shonda Rhimes (Writer of 'Scandal' TV series) - She can bind you with her intriguing monologues (with an unforeseen twist at the end) and just as quickly switch to a second lengthy monologue without boring you, making you think about it long after the character has stopped talking.(less)

READERS ROCK!

As I kick off my #blog (first ever!), I thought it appropriate to give a massive shout-out to all readers.

Publishing my first novel was such a roller-coaster ride, with ups, downs, some vomiting, but mostly exhilaration. And I will give more detail on my journey, challenges, my approach to writing, and my experiences in the posts to follow, but for now…I have to say, Readers Rock!
