Don't think about the reactions people will have, because that will stall your creative process. Write from the heart, and keep writing—you can always go back and edit it later.

Also: set deadlines for yourself. If you don't have deadlines for finishing various aspects of your book along the way, then you could keep putting it off for years to come before making any progress.(less)
