Author of Romantic Suspense with a Paranormal Twist

I can’t explain where my stories come from or why some paranormal aspect always seems to find its way inside my pages. But I can tell you that I find inspiration everywhere.

Among other genres, I enjoy a great romance novel, especially when it has lots of suspense-filled pages. And after reading any one of my novels, I believe you’ll be able to guess that I adore romantic comedies, which is why you’ll also find plenty of humor in my stories as well.

Hey, Stefanie.

On a typical day, I get in zero writing time. It's actually rare for me to get ahead on editing deadlines and find time to sneak in a few hours for myself. But when I do, I often sink into it and write for twelve hours straight or more.(less)

Hey Stefanie:

Thanks for your question, and to answer it depends on the story.

For instance, my Cold Case Series Novels take place in Northern Colorado very near my home. For this series, I wanted to be able to personally explore all of the areas my characters do. My hope was that by doing so I could more easily bring my readers right to the mountains.

For my Halo Christmas Novels, however, I've created the Town of St, Thaddeaus which resides somewhere in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado not easily found. A place where angels reside and troubled souls find their way. A place filled with the memories of my childhood and the people who fill them. This is my way of bringing the reader to someplace special while bringing all those people and memories closer to home.

Last is How To Train Your Angel, a standalone novel, which takes place in Philadelphia. And I honestly can't recall what provoked me to choose Philadelphia, but I believe it was probably nothing more than a way to bring family long ago closer to me once again.

Blow Up Those Fiction-Writing Rules

Tales of “writing rules” follow us everywhere, from our critique groups and writing groups to workshops, online blogs, videos, etc.

Get rid of garbage words
Don't use passive voice
Don't start a sentence with a gerund (a word ending in __ing
Don't head hop
No sex before Chapter 5 (What!)

And on and on it goes.

Try writing to the rules and what you’ll get is blah. Bland, dry, robotic. Nothing unique. N Read more of this blog post »

“So let me ask you something. If you believe in the Devil, or ‘Satan’ as you call him, how do you think he goes about wreaking all this havoc?”
“Just like God goes about doing his thing, with help from all us pitiful souls.” When she gave him an odd look, he elaborated by saying, “God has angels, disciples and so forth. Satan has demons, cultists and whatnot.”
Gina Salamon, Visual Contact

“Whispers of death crawled through her brain like insects swarming a feast. Murmurs of pain and torture sent shivers of dread down her spine. Gathering her courage, Alaina turned to face him.
“It all started with the attic . . .”
Gina Salamon, Sleepless: A Cold Case Novel

“Marcus Graham didn’t need a college degree for his career of choice, nor did he need one to know he’d just royally screwed up. He'd done his homework—no one could say he hadn’t—and still, karma was biting him in the ass. An hour ago he thought the gods were smiling down on his beautiful bald head. Who’d have guessed just how wrong he was?”

“Wait. Didn’t you say Simon was in his underwear?”
“Yeah. Christmas green boxers with an explosion of red and white candy canes. So?”
“So there you go, the audience was just as naked as you were. Problem solved.”

“You look beautiful sitting there spitting at me like a she-cat. All I have to do is look at you, and I lust. I'm going to take you back to the hotel and take off that delectable dress and make love to you until you don't have the energy to be mad at me anymore." Ian Connelly, Marquis of Derne”
