I write urban fantasy stories filled with magic, romance and the occasional centaur. I generally fuel my creativity with an insatiable appetite for reading and frequent episodes of Doctor Who. (And lots and lots of Diet Coke.) My love for language is expressed, both in my writing, and in my day job as a sign language interpreter. I live just outside of Washington DC with my husband, my kids, and my badly behaved Australian Shepard.

I'm so sorry that I didn't see your question sooner - I'm so glad that I can answer it now! I grew up in Sioux Falls, and loved visiting the Black Hills with my family, and it was just the most natural place for me to set the story. :) My family moved to SF when I was a kid, and then lived there all the way through when I graduated from HS. My family has since moved, though, so I don't get back to visit as often as I'd like. :) Thanks for asking!!(less)

“The misses are not failures. They are part of your eventual success. The only way to fail is to stop picking up”
Miriam Greystone, Winter's Mage

“Though I must admit, I’ve come to like the cold.” “Really?” I could feel his skin, like warm velvet, just beneath his fur. “Why?” “The cold makes everything clearer. Crystallized. You can see things you couldn’t see before. The frost on the ground. Your own breath in the air. Even the birds are easier to see in the trees, once the leaves have fallen. When the water has frozen solid, lakes and creeks that used to be barriers become their own kind of pathway.”
Miriam Greystone, Winter's Mage

“Scars do not bother me. They are the laurels of the survivor”
Patricia Briggs, Silver Borne

“I will make a battering-ram of my head and make a way through this rough-and-tumble world.”
Louisa May Alcott, The Selected Letters
