LAWRENCE LEVY is a former Silicon Valley lawyer and executive hired by Steve Jobs in 1994 as CFO and member of the Office of the President of Pixar Animation Studios. He was responsible for Pixar's business strategy and IPO and guided Pixar's transformation from a money-losing graphics company into a multibillion-dollar entertainment studio. He later joined Pixar's board of directors. He then left corporate life to study Eastern philosophy and meditation and their relevance to modern life. He now writes and teaches on this topic and cofounded Juniper Foundation to pursue this work. Originally from London, England, he earned degrees from Indiana University and Harvard Law School. I have no idea how to fix that…moreI found this pattern emerged when I received comments on the manuscript. First I would say to myself, "It's impossible! I have no idea how to fix that." 24 hours later an idea would come to mind. 48 hours later I'd by saying "I know what to do." Eventually I grew to trust that process.(less)

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Lawrence Levy I had known for some time that if I didn't tell this story, it would likely never be told. I also knew it was a great story because I had told it verb…moreI had known for some time that if I didn't tell this story, it would likely never be told. I also knew it was a great story because I had told it verbally to riveted audiences a number of times. However, the real inspiration came about two and half years ago when I was recovering from a car accident (hit by a drunk driver). That was the first time I realized I could draw parallels between the Pixar story and my more recent work in eastern philosophy. That really excited me, and the seed for this book was born.(less)
