For some reason I always write this way. I envision people, their personalities, what drives them, then build a situation, goal, scenario around them and then the world takes shape. It's almost a magical experience, for me, writing this way. I've spent months before shaping and building this world, only to find that I didn't have quite the right stuff to put in it. I've found that doing the opposite way really helps with my creativity.

The world building will come, of course, just later in the process. At least, that's what works best for me =)

Great question James. Thank you!(less)

I had so many ideas for worlds, characters, different settings and it just sort of happened. I fell in love with writing just in the same way that I love reading.(less)

“Two blurs sliced through the air, one black, and one silver.
With each clash of sword on sword, a single note was played, adding to the melody that was the song of battle.”
Holden R. Johnson, The Red Heir

“The Sword. Her name is Nightmare.”
A small shiver ran down Vall’s back, in the exact line where the blade now was. It was not a shiver of fear, but of understanding.
“And a nightmare, she shall be.”
Holden R. Johnson, The Red Heir

“Move first, ask questions later, apologize never.”
Holden R. Johnson, The Red Heir
