“The auras gone from times of old,
The Defeat of a King to be foretold,
Hunger for greed and our world dominance,
Couldn’t separate three species from prominence.
He used his aura, fought against the others,
But the Felrin came to save our mothers.
Lesson learnt in history,
No matter how much you hunger for poverty,
You’ll feel the wrath of those in charge,
Elected to keep the warmth in our hearts.”

“Agantha then caught Dersji’s eyes and he shook his head. Xandou was enough for Dersji at this point, even then, he didn’t really care enough about the boy nor his own Menial for that matter. This wasn’t his job, parenting. He could harden the little sprout, but he would never be able to show her the love of a parent, he never had that to give his own …
He stared off in the hopes someone would be there for her right now.”

“It’s goodbye, Julius.”
“Why?” His voice shook. “Me without you would be—I mean—you’re—”
“Yeah, I am,” she said, her pain hidden; her eyes vindicated. “And I know exactly what path I must take.”
“I’m not on it, am I?”
She said nothing and waited. Attempting silence; an entry point for him to fight for her. To confess that he was indeed travelling the same path and he would be there, waiting for her, no matter her decision. That he would be able to change and show himself to her, whoever he was. But he never spoke. Head declined; he accepted her words. Accepted the truth: he didn’t want to be his true self. He wanted to remain a pretender. Kaianan could see that wasn’t her battle to fight. It was his.
And she could see he wasn’t going to change or be inspired by her, who dished out more than she should have for someone not capable of connection.
This was acceptance.”

“If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?”

“Then Kaianan stood staring at them; Darayan and Archibel laughing and mucking around as they leaped over their back-fence home. Envy held her; she wished she had someone close who understood her like they did each other. Maybe Xandou did understand her—but he would never allow her out, nor would Dersji. Kaianan sighed; maybe it was someone she just hadn’t met yet.”

“Simplicity, patience, compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and thoughts, you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies,
you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself,
you reconcile all beings in the world.”
― Tao Te Ching

“Knowing others is intelligence;
knowing yourself is true wisdom.
Mastering others is strength;
mastering yourself is true power.”
