Doing so chan…moreI had been "jogging" for several years before I read an article in Runners World that gave me permission to refer to myself as a runner. Doing so changed the way I felt about running. I went from having never run a mile to completing a marathon in a couple of years. The same phenomenon occurred when I started calling myself a writer. I went from a blogger who'd never been published (by anyone but myself) to a completed manuscript in a couple of years. The adage, "you must see it to believe it," is backwards. You've got to believe it if you want to see it. (less)

This is really hard to do. But once I realize that I'm writing in circles, the only answer is to move around and do something else. This energizes me and allows my subconscious to work out the issues. I usually experience some sort of Eureka! moment that hijacks whatever I'm doing to root around for a pen and scrap of paper and capture the idea before it fades. (less)
