That's how it is for me, anyway. I try to write something everyday, whether I feel inspired or not.(less)

I couldn't stop marvelling at the solitude and peace we had there; we were only a half-mile from civilisation, but being there, it felt like we were the only people in the world. Especially at night when it was so dark and quiet and there was no light pollution. My mind wandered - as it often does - and I thought, "Anything could be happening back home and we wouldn't even know about it..." Then I imagined a zombie apocalypse happening and us being completely unaware of it, and how it would feel to emerge from the woods and find our home town overrun by zombies. It was the seed of a story, and sure enough, that became the opening of Thrive.(less)

Great setup, disappointing execution.

Ink was alluring but left something to be desired. Spark was brilliant and left me itching to read the third book... And Scar? To be honest, it's a bit of a disappointment.

Frank Herbert
“There was a man who sat each day looking out through a narrow vertical opening where a single board had been removed from a tall wooden fence. Each day a wild ass of the desert passed outside the fence and across the narrow opening—first the nose, then the head, the forelegs, the long brown back, the hindlegs, and lastly the tail. One day, the man leaped to his feet with the light of discovery in his eyes and he shouted for all who could hear him: “It is obvious! The nose causes the tail!”
