Timothy DeLizza grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He lives in Baltimore, MD and works as an energy attorney for the government.

He mostly writes literary fiction with speculative elements, but has been known to write something first then come up with a genre for it afterwards.

His essay "Legally Speaking, Rats Aren't Even Animals" won the 2020 Barry Lopez Nonfiction Prize.

His fiction has recently appeared in the Southwest Review, Another Chicago Magazine, and Grain Magazine. His nonfiction has recently appeared in Salon.com, Earth Island Journal and Undark. He has run the Baltimore-based variety show Drinking Club since 2016.

Clever premise, workmanlike execution. What if Hogwarts was run by Wolfram & Hart, but everyone has the emotional intelligence of a cliched teenager. Would work better as straight satire or more gritty, and without a clunky cozy romance subplot.
