The answer wasn't a character flaw. It was a nervous system doing exactly what it was built to do, in an environment it wasn't built for.
Confident Without the Noise is the book he wishes someone had handed him in 2010, when he sat in a parking garage after a meeting that should have been his and couldn't understand why the words wouldn't come.

Confident Without the Noise is free on Kindle through June 5.
Written for introverts, highly sensitive people, and people-pleasers who go quiet under pressure. It covers the freeze response, how to set boundaries that hold, and how to handle the people who test them.
If you read it and it lands, an honest review helps more than you'd think.

I came to this book after years of suspecting that something was off about how the workplace measured competence. Cain confirmed it and gave me language for it. The phrase "Extrovert Ideal" alone reorganized how I thought about my own career and the ...more

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

Picked this up expecting a fun thriller and got something more substantial. Crouch builds the premise carefully enough that the philosophical weight actually lands by the back half. Read it in two sittings. Worth the time.
