Music & Mayhem is my game. Started my trumpet career in my teens, got into the mayhem later. My print journalist father taught me how to play pool in the police station. Maybe that's how I discovered my dark side.

After gigging on trumpet in the Boston area for many years (while teaching at Brown University and Berklee College of Music), I moved to New Orleans, which became the setting for my crime thrillers. Scroll down and check the video trailers.

I survived Katrina, but divide my time between Boston and the Big Easy. On my website I post profiles of women musicians. I also write ebooks about true crime: DARK DEEDS about serial killers, stalkers and domestic homicides. Please come visit!!

So when my favorite Vermeer, The Concert, was stolen in 1990, I was devastated. The paintings have never been found. My latest novel, Natalie's Art, is about another heist at the Gardner, twenty years after the previous heist. And it's just come out today! (less)

“Florence peered out her living room window. What a dismal day. No sun, just sullen gray clouds like yesterday. And no sign of the cable company van. At 9:30 a man from the cable company had called and said they were having problems in her area. As if she didn’t know. Wavy lines filled the forty-six-inch screen”

I'm happy too. Seems like we have many books in common. At the risk of sounding pushy, if I gifted you a copy of Natalie's Dilemma, could I persuade you to review it on Amazon? It's got great reviews, but only 12 of them, and I'd love to have more. Susan

Susan You're welcome, Beth, and thank YOU for your many helpful comments on the MurderMustAdvertise list. I save a copy of your explanation of how to give a book away on Goodreads. Since my next suspense thriller, DIVA, is just coming out, I'll probably do one and see how it goes.

Susan Hi Rosemary, great to hear from you! I've been here for a while, but busy-ness prevented me from being active until recently, so many things to do, too little time.

Thanks for the lovely comment about my CD. I continue to sell a few from my website, most recently from a former student of mine from 20 years ago! Amazing how the Internet connects us all.

Rosemary Susan, what a delight to see you on Goodreads! I continue to enjoy your beautiful trumpet CD when I need a lift on my commute.
