I knew my class of Kindergarteners would also get a kick out of those photos. In order to hold the interest of the children, the book had to be short. As long as it had an introduction (main idea), three details to prove the main idea, and a closing, the book was complete for me and my class. At that time It was not about having this make-shift book published but to have an enjoyable read-aloud with my class.
Then, as a response to literature, I asked the class to write letters to Fallon, Capone's owner, on his behalf. I used those letters to create a bulletin board. At that time my colleagues saw the bulletin board and that was when they encouraged me to have my make-shift book published after I retire. Giving it some thought, I decided to go for it and to my surprise, Page Publishing accepted the draft. Now I sent them two more drafts, "Capone Goes To Kindergarten" and "Capone In The Big Apple." Can't wait to continue the journey as a Children's Author. (less)

PRINCIPLES

Just finished reading PRINCIPLES by Ray Dalio. Here is an excerpt from his book which I find relevant in today's world.

"The Chinese leader Wang Qishan drew my attention to what happened in ancient Rome when Julius Caesar revolted against the government, defeated his fellow general Pompey, seized control of the Republic from the Senate, and named himself emperor for life. Anne Iodice Thank you to those who have found my book "Can We Talk" and gave it a 5 star rating. The book is on the list "Best Books To Read to 3-5 Year-Old Children." The book was put together for my kindergarten class who enjoyed it immensely. My colleagues also got a kick out of it. It is a short book but just right for that age group especially if you want to ask them questions such as: What was the book about? (Capone's owner treats him like a child and not a pet. And: Are you sure? Capone's owner puts a coat on him; puts him in a stroller; and brings a lunch date for him. Dogs don't do that. Then I had my class write letters to his owner on behalf of Capone because he didn't want to hurt her feelings. I used those letters to set up a bulletin board in my classroom. It was a bulletin board with children's work and not store bought materials. It was great.

Anne Iodice Just retired from NYC DOE. Was a kindergarten teacher for the majority of my time at the DOE. Put together a make-shift book for the class. The children enjoyed it and colleagues encouraged me to have it published. After much thought, I did through Page Publishing. I hope all who read it enjoy it as much as my class did.
