Robert M. (Bob) Lynch was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Lindenhurst, Long Island with his eight siblings. His dad, Joe, a former Marine, was a tough New York City cop with an openly loving heart, a quick temper, and a firm disciplinary hand. His mother, Barbara, kept the house and took care of all those kids, in addition to her mother and Joe's father. It was all pretty much what Bob had assumed to be the typical suburban family with the typical parents, while perhaps being a bit cramped and noisy in their modest home.

Today, Bob lives in sunny South Florida with his beautiful wife, Laura, a hidden stash of cheap cigars, an overused laptop, and an underused swimming pool. His lifelong desire to become a Marine has gone the way of his we

But I guess my initial inspiration was my old friend, Jim. About eight years ago we had a nice conversation about writing and he gave me the nudge to start writing. I can't thank him enough. I love to write and I may never have taken that leap had it not been for him.(less)
Robert M. Lynch I do my best to stop thinking about the story. In a few days, I just start cold, and ideas or direction usually flow.

A Hero's Bio

Joseph A. Lynch Biography
By Robert Lynch

Joseph A. Lynch had never set out to become a hero. But, as a young boy in Brooklyn, NY, when he watched his older brothers John, Wally, and Jimmy go off to war in Europe and the Pacific, it was his strong desire to courageously fight alongside them. At the age of eighty-three he said, “That was just a foolish child’s dream.” He hadn’t realized at that impre Read more of this blog post »

“Everyone says you should write about what you know. Fine. But that doesn’t necessarily mean people, places, and events. It doesn’t mean that, because you were a coal miner, that coal mining is the only thing you should write about. What we all know about is our experiences and writing is about experiences. You can write about love because you have loved. You know what love feels like. Same goes for loss, pain, fear, joy, anger, empathy, it doesn’t matter. You know what those things feel like, so you can take your experiences and use them as the basis for your writing. From there, you can manipulate those feelings, you can exaggerate them, you can even introduce conflicting feelings. No matter what my characters are feeling, I first go to my experiences, and then mold my feelings for the specific character.”

“When I read, I discover new worlds, I meet interesting people, and I explore diverse realities. When I write, I discover myself.”

“Even when he makes up the whole damn story, the author always leaves clues about himself.”

“Writing books is the closest men ever come to childbearing.”
Norman Mailer

“People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that’s bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they’re afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they’re wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It’s all in how you carry it. That’s what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you’re letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.”
Jim Morrison
