I've been writing stories as long as I can remember. I was reminded of this when I recently found a self-portrait that I'd done of myself when I was 11 years old and in one hand I was holding a pen, and the other hand a paintbrush. I didn't know it then but eventually I'd return to my first true loves, writing and painting. Of course, I had to find that out after many twists and turns, including Harvard law school, and a stint representing the same type of "bad guys" that I write about in my mystery, A Dead Man Speaks. The themes in my books are usually also influenced by having grown up in a family where communicating with "the other side" was a pretty regular part of my life.
