I went to film school, wanted to be a writer-director growing up. One of the drawbacks about being a filmmaker (especially one without money) is not having the freedom to film whatever you want. Even if you do have the budget, you have to run your ideas with a producer, so the ability to express yourself freely is limited. (less)

Also, make sure to have a good solid outline to go by before you sit down to write anything. It will come in handy when you hit the dreaded and infamous "writer's block." (less)
