KC Murphy has always had a vivid imagination with story ideas popping into her head at the most inopportune moments, like 2am! After many years of ghost-writing for other people she decided to try her hand at writing her own children’s stories. KC writes children's stories but loves horror and anything to do with the paranormal!

KC believes that every child deserves to be able to read and therefore enjoy the magical world of literature.

Along with writing, KC has a keen interest in mental health and volunteers with a charity helping anyone who's struggling to cope. The Mouse Adventures series revolve around an anxious little mouse, who either gets the hiccups or his hiccups worsen when he feels anxious or stressed. KC wanted to show her youn ...more

Greetings, K.C., I'm an ed therapist working with a little boy who is an emergent reader. I am looking for books that have higher interest content with few words. I found one he loved, a Brian Szelnick. Baby Monkey, Private Eye was a great pick. Any thoughts about other authors or books that may be similar? Thanks!

Oxford Reading Tree: Level 1 is a brilliant series for emergent readers, as their stories concentrate on phonics and first sentences.
Obviously, I'd love to recommend my Mouse Adventures series too, which is suitable for readers aged 0-7 years. I write in an easy to understand rhyming format, perfect for reading aloud to the little boy you're working with.
Thank you for your question and please feel free to reach out again and I promise to reply sooner next time:) x (less)

Sacred Mouse

Did you know that in Greek mythology the humble mouse is seen as a sacred being?

This is because it has the power to adapt to any conditions akin to a powerful God.

Mice are also seen as prophets of weather. Who knew that this little animal had so much going on?
