It’s probably better for it.(less)

The Funny Thing About Time

I wanted so, so badly to put a book out in 2024. Midway through the year, as I was working on The Color of Rage, I realized that I was stuck (tried to make it a mystery and I don’t really know how to do that), and that I’d never, ever have it ready for even a developmental edit in time to get it out in 2024.

But . . . I did have a completed novel that I loved (seriously, I’ll probably never have th

engaging

Rae is one of my favorite kinds of heroines—tough, smart, powerful, and clever. I loved the way her relationship with Aiden evolved. Great chemistry. Lots of tension and conflict.

discipline

The strongest part of the story was the control and discipline Beckett insists on. A few spanking scenes and general dominance. I thought the chemistry was okay but one-dimensional. A quick, fun read.

Read this series in order. The training hits new levels and is very intense. Lots of aspects of BDSM. Reaching the point of total submission.

Krampus

I love Krampus! This story holds a lot of similarities to the first book in the series. I wanted more insight into Krampus. The milking is extreme, in a good way.

Beatrice has a wonderful man who wants to marry her, but her nerves threaten to undermine her happiness. Enter Dr. Hardy.

The hysteria treatments were hot. The setup of the doctor and his assistant a little confusing, but easily overlooked.

This was a fun read. Aspeth was a charming character, someone hopelessly naive, but a positive person and very caring about those around her. I love a good grumpy-sunshine story, and Hawk made a great grump.

Great chemistry and some nice twists and tu

This is a fun, smutty story of a woman brought into a Hucow program. I enjoyed the intensity and the mystery of what was happening.

I enjoyed this story, though I thought it dragged in places. Lor and Nadir are clearly mates, and it's kind of fun to see them both pretty clueless to it. This is definitely a series you need to read in order. ...more

“Phyllida's hair was where her power resided. It was expensively set into a smooth dome, like a band shell for the presentation of that long-running act, her face.”
Jeffrey Eugenides, The Marriage Plot

Neil Gaiman
“Remember: when people tell you something’s wrong or doesn’t work for them, they are almost always right. When they tell you exactly what they think is wrong and how to fix it, they are almost always wrong.”

Gail Carriger
“He ... boasted an unassuming mustache, which was perched atop his upper lip cautiously, as though it were slightly embarrassed to be there and would like to slide away and become a sideburn or something more fashionable.”
Gail Carriger, Etiquette & Espionage

Charles Dickens
“Oh! but he was a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone, Scrooge! a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner! Hard and sharp as flint, from which no steel had ever struck out generous fire; secret, and self-contained, and solitary as an oyster. The cold within him froze his old features, nipped his pointed nose, shriveled his cheek, stiffened his gait; made his eyes red, his thin lips blue; and spoke out shrewdly in his grating voice. A frosty rime was on his head, and on his eyebrows, and his wiry chin. He carried his own low temperature always about with him; he iced his office in the dog-days and didn't thaw it one degree at Christmas.”
Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Mark Lawrence
“Brother Row you could trust to make a long shot with a short bow. You could trust him to come out of a knife fight with somebody else's blood on his shirt. You could trust him to lie, to cheat, to steal, and to watch your back. You couldn't trust his eyes though. He had kind eyes, and you couldn't trust them.”
Mark Lawrence, Prince of Thorns
