Marii Solaria is an African American woman born and raised in Chicago, Illinois in the wonderful neighborhood of Uptown to Malian immigrants. She is the second child out of four and the only female out of her siblings. Beginning her writing career at age 12, she wrote fanfiction of her favorite television shows and movies and created original stories alongside her three brothers. She became drawn to the fantasy genre and magical systems through television and that became her favorite genre to write about.
