Dan Lutts has been an avid book lover all his life. He began reading fantasy fiction in high school and even tried his hand at writing a couple of fantasy short stories. Writing has always been in his blood, though. He has worked as a freelance writer, a technical writer, and also taught technical writing at the college level. Dan especially loves YA fantasy and decided to try his hand at it. His Charm Wars Series was the result.

Dan lives in rural Maine with his wife Lisa and their two cats, Lillie and Mattie. When he’s not working or writing, Dan can be found reading, making and shooting medieval arrows at targets with his longbow, and playing with Lillie and Mattie.

Marie Sutcliff is one of my favorite authors and some of her books are difficult to get. Sutcliff was also a remarkable woman who overcome a horrible physical handicap as a child and ended up writing YA novels about Roman Britain and King Arthur.(less)

Faith

People have asked where the inspiration came for Rill’s dog, Faith, in Charm Wars. The inspiration was our rescue dog that we had named Faith because she had the faith to come to us. Rill’s faith was loyal to him for her entire life just as our Faith was loyal to us. How did we get her? While Lisa and I were living in Tennessee, someone dumped Faith in the nearby woods when she was two months old.
