Who is Denice Holt?

Good question. I’m a writer, mother, partner, lover, and wife. Whew! I love to cook. I’m a sucker for Kir Royales. And I am blessed to enjoy the company of a good man and three precocious boys. I keep a watchful eye on the future, but I strive to enjoy the little moments in life as they go by every day.

Though I am still a small-town girl at heart, I have lived a reasonably big-city life. I’ve learned a lot of things along the way that I should know…and a few that I probably shouldn’t.

Advice for young parents? Hug and kiss your kids every chance you get because you will blink and they will think it’s gross.

She wakes up without recollection of sharing anything but quickly realizes that she did. She just doesn’t know how much. Her husband, Jack, who has excelled at everything in life, is cut to the bone when he finds out that Sarah is “fine” with their “adequate sex life.”

I’m finding more and more humor showing up in my stories, which has been fun. If I have any challenge with this one, it is deciding how long it should be. My sweet spot had always been 20k words, but I am afraid this will be hard to do the story justice in that space. I guess we will all find out soon enough.

She was not overtly sexual, but …moreI am answering this for my first novella, Dream Works. I met an artist who only painted ideas inspired by her dreams. She was not overtly sexual, but there were hints of sexuality in some of her work. For some reason, the idea popped into my head: Imagine what the art might look like of a highly sexual artist who could only express her desire and passion through art? I pondered finding the artist and thanking her for the inspiration, but I think the odds are she might be offended at the nature of the book. But that wouldn’t be on her. That’s all on me.(less)
