Brooke Gilbert is a Tennessee native, a microbiology graduate of the University of Tennessee, and a border collie mom. She is, as you may have already guessed, a hopeless romantic and a lover of Jane Austen. When she isn’t writing, she works as a jewelry designer, an audiobook narrator, and a graphic designer. Her writing features characters with autoimmune disorders, something she deals with herself. Hello Deb,

I'm so glad you enjoyed the book and are looking forward to the next one! :) I have some classics on my nightstand right now. Persuasion and Jane Eyre. These two have slipped through the cracks for me and I'm really looking forward to them. I also really want to read the new Nicolas Spark's book, Dreamland. I'm currently reading Cynthia Hickey's book Christmas Stalker as I prepare to narrate it. It's a clean romantic thriller and perfect for the Christmas season. I've also been wanting to check out Leah Brunner's Cabin Mate and Emma St. Clair's and Jenny Proctor's Eloise and the Grump Next Door. I always have the worst time deciding on my next read! lol. What's on your nightstand to read? (less)

A silent film is great to let all the noise fade away. I believe in the Chaplin method. He makes an audience laugh as hard as they cry. If someone can make an audience feel both ends of the spectrum, then I feel like they've done their job. And no one could do it like Chaplin. So I can't help but watch him and feel inspired. If I could just have an iota of that magic rub off on me, then I'd be happy. And if I'm stuck on a particular romance sequence then you know Audrey Hepburn is coming on the screen! lol. (less)

“You don’t get it just like you don’t get yourself. Sometimes the simple beauty of a woman is more powerful than anything. It doesn’t need to be a massive painting, it doesn’t need to be filled with a lot of things going on in the canvas space, and it doesn’t need a lot of fancy art techniques. It’s just her. Her beauty. Her in her raw form with those intangible attributes that drove men crazy. Those intangible qualities that could topple kings. Those made Leonardo paint her. Those are still bringing people here to look at her and ponder over. It’s real love. An unfiltered and non-romanticized version. It’s real because it doesn’t need to be anything more. Just like you don’t need to be anything more. You’ve got those intangible qualities to bring millions of people to visit a museum to see you every year. You in your raw form have that power. People don’t forget someone like that. They’re etched into your bones and molded into your core.”
Brooke Gilbert, The Paris Soulmate

“He was perfect in my eyes. Not a fairy tale kind of perfection that could never be measured up to, but a perfection that was created by him being himself. Even his flaws seemed to fill out my being.”
Brooke Gilbert, The Paris Soulmate

“Soulmates don’t come to us as we expect them to. They don’t come in the package we expect, they don’t come the way we expect, and they certainly don’t come when we expect.”
Brooke Gilbert, The Paris Soulmate

“He was an authentic man in a sea of shallow boys.”
Brooke Gilbert, The Paris Soulmate

“I stood in front of the black dress, staring it down. I felt like it had taken an aggressive stance against me instead of merely hanging limply from the hanger. It was like a scene from a film noir. One of us wasn’t going to make it out alive.”
Brooke Gilbert, The Paris Soulmate

“I was at a crossroads: Did I believe him? Or was I just ignoring another red flag, burying myself alive in a graveyard of them?”
Brooke Gilbert, The Paris Soulmate

“When he touched my hand for the first time, it was like a piece of my heart went to him. And I'm afraid if we keep going, he’s going to collect all the pieces.”
Brooke Gilbert, The Paris Soulmate

“Great. Just flipping fantastic. He’s like a warm English fire after being caught in the rain, and I’m like a hillbilly tractor stuck in the mud.”
