I'm a children's writer based in Scotland, and most of my fiction is inspired by the Scottish landscape and local legends. I love writing fantasy adventures for 8-12 year olds, including the Fabled Beast Chronicles and the Spellchasers trilogy, but I also love creating stories for other age groups.
I've gone darker and more dangerous in my YA thriller MindBlind.
And I've worked with amazing illustrators on picture books, including a retelling of the Scottish tale of the kelpie, The Secret of the Kelpie, with gorgeous pictures by Philip Longson, and a new fable about Nessie, The Treasure of the Loch Ness Monster, with fabulous artwork by Nataša Ilinčić.
I've written collections of myths and legends, including heroine tales from all over the

Two lovely things have happened to me in the last fortnight. First, a story I wrote in the spring about midwinter, called The Holly and the Ivy, went up on the BBC Scotland Learning website. And second, I did an online Q&A with a wonderfully creative and curious class in West Lothian, as part of their project to answer the questio

Lari Don So I've just added a new book to the list of Books by Lari Don for the first time (my new picture book - Orange Juice Peas) which was quite a thrill! But I've also failed to add a picture of the rather lovely cover, which was a bit of a disappointment. Anyone got any suggestions of how to do that?

Christine Hatfield thanks for being my friend

Diana Hi Lari, thanks for the friend request. :)

Lari Don I'm sure if this box is for me to comment on my own page, but it seems like a convenient place to say: I realise that I'm giving either 4 or 5 stars to every book I review. This is NOT because I am incapable of telling a bad book from a good one, nor because I am amazingly expert at picking only excellent books to read, nor even because as an author, I don't want to be rude about other authors. It's because I'm not bothering to put up books on Goodreads that I wouldn't happily recommend to my best friend! So, if it's here and I've given it 4 or 5 stars, it's because I loved it. You can't see the pile of books by my bed which I'm not telling you about!
