Shiny Tings Today
Find out what probing questions I was asked by Bookswagger at http://bookswagger.com/2013/02/27/in-...
Looking for a YA Editor to be a final judge for my RWA Chapters contest. I keep calling, but I've only left two messages. I'm hoping my persistence is impressive not annoying.
And in Chimera 2 (still thinking of titles-- suggestions to do with ghosts most welcome) lions frolic in New York City's Central Park.
Also, my cover is in the finals at http://www.indtale.com/cover-contest please stop by and vote! You have to subscribe, but it's free and it's a great site!

Oh, no! Snow!
Ok, full disclosure, I'm from Rochester, NY. My hometown, the suburb of Greece, handles the totals we got yesterday here in Columbus pretty much every day, from after Christmas to the end of March. We had to get six inches an hour for several hours to get a snow day. Of course, as a kid, I loved a snow day and I don't usually mind them now, except, I really didn't need my kids home today.
I'm passing the fifty thousand word mark on Chimera 2. I'm in the middle of writing a treasure heist scene and then the end is in sight. I need all the time I can get because I want to get this out in the spring and unfortunately, I was stuck for two months, unable to write what I had originally planned. Then I changed it to the heist and miraculously the words are flowing. I can't stop now, despite the fact that I'm afraid readers will find the book has a split personality and right now I think it's terrible.
So, please. Wear your pajamas right side out tonight for me?

Guess who I winged Chocolate at!
Although I almost didn’t have a hotel room Tuesday night, I ended up having a blast at the conference. Luckily, Tuesday morning I called my my close friend, roomie, and Soul Mate editor extraordinaire, Debby Gilbert, and we realized I’d gotten my wires crossed (are you surprised?) and didn’t have a room in the conference hotel that night only hours before I was due to leave for the airport. I managed to secure one, but I could have done without the adrenaline rush.
I arrived at the hotel (much thanks to the fabulous Donna MacMeans for posting intricate directions on the COFW loop for those of us taking the MARTA from the airport) Wednesday was the literacy signing.
I as expected, I didn’t sell out, but I had a blast talking to everyone. Mostly thanks to Ranger, whose pic I had up on my IPad as an icebreaker.
I was up against the windows at the end of the aisle, so I didn’t get that much traffic, but Maggie Shayne was across from me and when her line got long, I’d say, “Hey, if you like Maggie Shayne’s books you might like mine.:-)
She was a good sport and when things got a little slow and she got hungry, I chucked some Hershey’s nuggets across the aisle like it was Mardi Gras. She’s a good catcher.:-)
There is more to share from RWA, but that will have to come in a later installment.
Did you have any adventures this weekend? Who did you meet? Where did you eat? Did you throw candy at anyone?

Guess Whose Book is a BOTM!
Yep, it's me! I'm so excited! My novel BLOOD AND KISSES has been chosen to be a Book of the Month (BOTM) for August at the Paranormal Romance: New and Upcoming Authors/Books group on Goodreads (GR).
To celebrate, I am giving an ecopy of IN LIKE A LION to a lucky commenter on the discussion thread over the course of the month. THE CHIMERA CHRONICLES, beginning with IN LIKE A LION, are a spin off from the world of BLOOD AND KISSES and my heroine from BLOOD AND KISSES, Thalia, is in it.
Read BLOOD AND KISSES and stop by to take part of the discussion. in September, I will randomly chose a number from the discussion thread. It's that easy!
Hope to see you there!

Guess who just sent in her contract?
Of course, you're right! It's me.
I just returned my signed contract to Soul Mate Publishing for ENTITY MINE book 2 in the Chimera Chronicles series.
I'm really excited as this book had been delayed by a sad case of "Where do I go fro here?" when I changed my mind about my plans for the end. But I'm really happy with how it turned out! I got lions playing in Central Park and involved the Mara brothers, heroine Devon and Jake's mate Anjali in a heist!
I even had a character say, "...this exorcism isn't going to perform itself."
To say I had a blast is an understatement. Here's the blurb: (Warning this is a draft blurb. It needs work)
Former Navy SEAL turned maritime treasure hunter Ethan Wade has had a piss-poor year. After nearly choking out his financial backer costs him his livelihood, he retreats to an isolated rental house in Western, NY to lick his wounds and make sure he can't hurt anyone else. When his old crew track him down to convince him to come back, a Molotov cocktail of rage and alcohol drives him drives him to do something he's never done before, and doesn't even know he can do--
Shape-shift.
Unfortunately, in his ignorance, rather than shift into a lion or a dragon, he ends up disembodied. Not knowing what he is, he can only come to one conclusion. He's died and is a ghost.
Lawyer Devon Daughtry's year hasn't been one for the record books either. Blowing the whistle lost her her boyfriend, (not too much of a loss), her job, (a bit worse) and with the rents in Manhattan, a primo apartment (the straw that broke the camel's back).
Now she's home in Cassadaga determined to re-build her life by hanging out her shingle as a psychic medium.
When she discovers a photograph of Ethan while moving in, she's immediately drawn to him and is crushed to discover he's missing and presumed dead. Soon, she begins having passionate dreams about him. Dreams that Ethan shares.
But Ethan isn't the only being in the house, a demonic presence has followed her home and it has diabolical plans for both of them.

Who was the man in the photo?
Here's another small unedited snippet from my FEB/MAR 2014 release ENTITY MINE.
Devon, the heroine, has just found Ethan's photo and been told that he's dead.
His eyes were light, green or blue, maybe hazel--she squelched the urge to ask. No need to make her oldest friend question her sanity--and thick lashes, half-lowered, made him look reserved. His hair was dark and short, military in its ruthless precision. His face had a lean, sculpted quality, as if he were the product of some artist’s imagination. His straight nose slashed toward his mouth and his cheekbones sheered diagonally across his face, carving his jaw into almost perfect triangles on either side. His lips were held tight, the only softness in his face the slight fullness of his bottom lip above the mere whisper of a cleft chin.
He reclined beside a huge, glass jar of coins on the concrete front stoop of the small ranch-style house -- one long leg bent, the other straight, his large right hand tucked across his lean ribs, the left propped on the step beside him -- making a black t-shirt and jeans look as sexy as nothing at all. Sexier.
Something gripped her heart as she gazed at the photo. She swallowed against the feeling.
Had she ever seen anyone who looked more alone?
Cover reveal coming soon!

Reviews = Stuff!
Never fall in love with a man in a photo. Especially, if he's dead . . .
Balanced on the knife-edge edge of going feral, chimera Ethan Wade has no idea what he is. All the former Navy SEAL turned maritime treasure hunter knows is his explosive temper has destroyed his life, driving him to an isolated rental house in Western, NY, to lick his wounds. When a molotov cocktail of rage and alcohol triggers an uncontrolled shift, he is caught between shapes.
Disembodied, he can only come to one conclusion: He's died and become a ghost.
Blowing the whistle lost lawyer Devon Daughtry her boyfriend, (not too much of a loss), her job, (a bit worse) and with the rents in Manhattan, a primo apartment (the straw that broke the camel's back).
Now she's run home to Cassadaga determined to re-build her life by hanging out her shingle as a psychic medium.
When she discovers a photograph of Ethan while moving in, she's crushed to discover the man whose lonely eyes strike a chord deep within her soul is missing and presumed dead. Soon, she begins having passionate dreams about him. Dreams that Ethan shares.
But Ethan isn't the only being in the house. A demonic presence has followed her home and it has diabolical plans for both of them.

Shiny Things 1/7/2015

Things that are distracting me this week...
Galavant on ABC. With music by Alan Menken, a pretty cast, and hilarious lyrics and one-liners, this irreverent cross between Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Once Upon a Time is not to be missed by musical fans! And we Psych and Supernatural fans get the bonus of Timothy Ormundson as the bad King Richard. He sings, he dances, he hugs. 'Nuff said!
More TV. Josh Gates from Destination Truth returns in a new Travel Channel show called Expedition Unknown! If you don't know him, you should. I love his tongue in cheek sense of humor. I wrote a ode to his old show Destination Truth (too ten reasons you should watch Destination Truth) and I listed him twice.
Still more TV. (I think we know what my Kryptonite is) American Haunting on Amazon Prime. This, new to me, ghost show fits the low bar I've set. It's about ghosts, but the first episode was very satisfying, as instead of just investigating and leaving the family to their haunted life, they end up ghost free.
Edits for my new YA Fantasy Romance HALFLING. Technically, since this is my actual work, it's not a distraction, but it's certainly concerning me. I actually love this part. Unfortunately, I love it a little too much and spend waaay too long thinking of the perfect word, simile, or metaphor! :-)
