Oh, no! Snow!

Ok, full disclosure, I'm from Rochester, NY. My hometown, the suburb of Greece, handles the totals we got yesterday here in Columbus pretty much every day, from after Christmas to the end of March. We had to get six inches an hour for several hours to get a snow day. Of course, as a kid, I loved a snow day and I don't usually mind them now, except, I really didn't need my kids home today.
I'm passing the fifty thousand word mark on Chimera 2. I'm in the middle of writing a treasure heist scene and then the end is in sight. I need all the time I can get because I want to get this out in the spring and unfortunately, I was stuck for two months, unable to write what I had originally planned. Then I changed it to the heist and miraculously the words are flowing. I can't stop now, despite the fact that I'm afraid readers will find the book has a split personality and right now I think it's terrible.

So, please. Wear your pajamas right side out tonight for me?

Context confusion

I have two fancies. I show my dogs. And I write. Of course, the second is more of an obsession, but both subjects fill my inbox. The problem? Both subjects have very similar lexicons. For example, I see the subject heading "stacking". I think they're talking about stacking a dog so the judge can go over it. But, no. When I open the email, it's actually about stacking books. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just like expecting food to taste a certain way when you put it in your mouth. If it tastes different than you expect, sour instead of sweet, etc. It might not be bad, but it's--surprising.
Both my interests have newsletters. Both have "Bitches." one being Smart and Trashy and the other being actual female dogs. Many of my wring friends have the same first names (and sometimes similar last names) to my dog friends.

And then there's my own failing memory, (see The Screw-Up)

I suppose a solution would be to have two different email addresses, but I can hardly remember to check one, so I guess I'll have to live with the confusion. Just please don't be offended if I ask about your bitch....

How 'bout you? Got interests that confuse? I'd love to hear about them.:-)

So you live in Gotham/Metroplolis/New York City

I love Superheroes. Probably obvious to those who have read my books. My heroes and heroines are always Superhuman.

Marvel's the Avengers, Captain America, and Thor are all on Netfilix now and after re-watching them and seeing Man of Steel in the theater, I came up with these tips for surviving the superhero version of NYC

1. When you take your young son to the theater, wait until the show is over to leave. You can hang in the lobby. I'm sure there are drinks or something available to occupy your time.

2. If you are a business owner, make sure your insurance covers "smashing" and other damage from Superhuman fists or bodies crashing through your building.

3. Resist the urge to watch Superheroes battle. Stay away from the windows. In fact evacuate the building, and run. Run away as fast as you can.

4. If a superhero directs you, follow his advice. Now is not a good time to ask who he is and why you should listen to him.

5. Move.

Hope you enjoyed my tips! I'd love to hear some of yours!

Hello Atlanta!

In a few short days, I will (hopefully) have wrapped up my chapter's contest, finished packing my son for Taekwondo camp, made sure my daughter has what she needs for her big dance performance months in the making, and be winging my way (metaphorically as I must use a plane, unlike my characters*g*) to Atlanta for the Romance Writers of America's yearly national convention.
The highlight of my time there (well, one of them) will be the Literacy Signing. My books are now all in print, but compared to the ebook copies, they are pretty expensive, and I am not well known, so I will have to keep my expectations of lines stretching around corners for sometime in the future. For now, I will hope I can meet scads of fellow lovers of the paranormal, science fiction, and fantasy. And that friends (both virtual and physical) will stop by and say hello.

So here's me, formally inviting you to meet me in Atlanta!

(I will try to remember the chocolate this year)

See you soon!

Guess Whose Book is a BOTM!

Yep, it's me! I'm so excited! My novel BLOOD AND KISSES has been chosen to be a Book of the Month (BOTM) for August at the Paranormal Romance: New and Upcoming Authors/Books group on Goodreads (GR).

To celebrate, I am giving an ecopy of IN LIKE A LION to a lucky commenter on the discussion thread over the course of the month. THE CHIMERA CHRONICLES, beginning with IN LIKE A LION, are a spin off from the world of BLOOD AND KISSES and my heroine from BLOOD AND KISSES, Thalia, is in it.

Read BLOOD AND KISSES and stop by to take part of the discussion. in September, I will randomly chose a number from the discussion thread. It's that easy!

Hope to see you there!

Guess who just sent in her contract?

Of course, you're right! It's me.

I just returned my signed contract to Soul Mate Publishing for ENTITY MINE book 2 in the Chimera Chronicles series.

I'm really excited as this book had been delayed by a sad case of "Where do I go fro here?" when I changed my mind about my plans for the end. But I'm really happy with how it turned out! I got lions playing in Central Park and involved the Mara brothers, heroine Devon and Jake's mate Anjali in a heist!

I even had a character say, "...this exorcism isn't going to perform itself."

To say I had a blast is an understatement. Here's the blurb: (Warning this is a draft blurb. It needs work)

Former Navy SEAL turned maritime treasure hunter Ethan Wade has had a piss-poor year. After nearly choking out his financial backer costs him his livelihood, he retreats to an isolated rental house in Western, NY to lick his wounds and make sure he can't hurt anyone else. When his old crew track him down to convince him to come back, a Molotov cocktail of rage and alcohol drives him drives him to do something he's never done before, and doesn't even know he can do--
Shape-shift.
Unfortunately, in his ignorance, rather than shift into a lion or a dragon, he ends up disembodied. Not knowing what he is, he can only come to one conclusion. He's died and is a ghost.
Lawyer Devon Daughtry's year hasn't been one for the record books either. Blowing the whistle lost her her boyfriend, (not too much of a loss), her job, (a bit worse) and with the rents in Manhattan, a primo apartment (the straw that broke the camel's back).
Now she's home in Cassadaga determined to re-build her life by hanging out her shingle as a psychic medium.
When she discovers a photograph of Ethan while moving in, she's immediately drawn to him and is crushed to discover he's missing and presumed dead. Soon, she begins having passionate dreams about him. Dreams that Ethan shares.
But Ethan isn't the only being in the house, a demonic presence has followed her home and it has diabolical plans for both of them.

ENTITY MINE Coming early 2014!

Who was the man in the photo?

Here's another small unedited snippet from my FEB/MAR 2014 release ENTITY MINE.

Devon, the heroine, has just found Ethan's photo and been told that he's dead.

His eyes were light, green or blue, maybe hazel--she squelched the urge to ask. No need to make her oldest friend question her sanity--and thick lashes, half-lowered, made him look reserved. His hair was dark and short, military in its ruthless precision. His face had a lean, sculpted quality, as if he were the product of some artist’s imagination. His straight nose slashed toward his mouth and his cheekbones sheered diagonally across his face, carving his jaw into almost perfect triangles on either side. His lips were held tight, the only softness in his face the slight fullness of his bottom lip above the mere whisper of a cleft chin.
He reclined beside a huge, glass jar of coins on the concrete front stoop of the small ranch-style house -- one long leg bent, the other straight, his large right hand tucked across his lean ribs, the left propped on the step beside him -- making a black t-shirt and jeans look as sexy as nothing at all. Sexier.
Something gripped her heart as she gazed at the photo. She swallowed against the feeling.
Had she ever seen anyone who looked more alone?

Cover reveal coming soon!
