Bree Pembrook is the alias of a teenaged, plot-bunny-farming hobbit who writes in just about every genre there is. She sports a long list of unusual things she’s done in the name of writing research, spouts off random facts about random things at random times, and still holds out hope that there are dragons and wardrobes that lead to other worlds. She has an irrational fear of heights, but isn’t afraid to defend her faith and she hoards books and chocolate like a dragon hoards gold and jewels. Follow her crazy antics on her blog, laughsandliterature.wordpress.com

July Recap

… Better late than never, right? We’re only halfway through AUGUST at this point. Summer just started yesterday and it’s already August, odd how time works. Anywho. We’re keeping it short, mostly because I don’t remember what happened in July. My little brain can’t remember that much. Picture time and then that’s literally all IContinue reading "July Recap" Read more of this blog post »

“Really, Cosima,” Aella said, clucking her tongue, “you’re thin as a toothpick. What have you been doing, fasting for the past week?”
“I… I’m a vegetarian,” Cosima said.
Aella clucked again. “Not good. Not good at all. We’ll soon fix that. Let’s go!”
Bree Pembrook, Joy

“Oh, I have just been struck with an idea of brilliantness.”
Bree Pembrook, Joy

“Some sort of sorcery has placed me in the body of a prune! Save me, Mr. Grayson, or my good looks will be gone forever! My arms! Where are my arms?!”
Bree Pembrook, Ichabod Fly and the Great Newspaper Roundup

“Rabbit's clever," said Pooh thoughtfully.
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit's clever."
"And he has Brain."
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit has Brain."
There was a long silence.
"I suppose," said Pooh, "that that's why he never understands anything.”
A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest.”
C.S. Lewis

“Believe God's word and power more than you believe your own feelings and experiences. Your Rock is Christ, and it is not the Rock which ebbs and flows, but your sea.”
Samuel Rutherford

“My place beside you, my blood for yours
'Til the Green Ember rises or the end of the world.”
S.D. Smith
