It's the mere fact that I am now able to write the words that others were unable to communicate on their own, ultimately helping them find peace and freedom. It makes me feel incredibly grateful that my work can be the reason why others feel seen, heard or validated.(less)

Whether it be in a film, at a museum, by conversing with friends, reading about a topic I have no knowledge in, people watching, traveling, exploring...I place myself in environments or instances that allow me to experience a novel sensation or an awakening. It's rooted in awareness - but by simply opening my heart, my mind and my eyes to the beauty that exists around me, that inspiration is what gives me the ability to feel a spark. That spark, whatever it may be, is what awakens something internally that uncovers a new idea, a thought, a realization, a concept or a newfound belief. From there, I have the courage and the drive to pick up a pen, think and write again. (less)

“How do you know that you are on your path – because it disappears. That’s how you know. How do you know that you are really doing something radical? Because you can’t see where you are going. That’s how you know. And everything you have lent on for your identity has gone. And so you are going to enter the black contemplative splendours of self-doubt, at the same time as you are setting out on this radical new path.”

“It doesn’t interest me if there is one God
or many gods.
I want to know if you belong or feel
abandoned,
if you can know despair or see it in others,
I want to know

if you are prepared to live in the world
with its harsh need
to change you. If you can look back
with firm eyes,
saying this is where I stand. I want to know
if you know
how to melt into that fierce heat of living,
falling toward
the center of your longing. I want to know
if you are willing
to live, day by day, with the consequence of love
and the bitter
unwanted passion of your sure defeat.

I have heard, in that fierce embrace, even
the gods speak of God.”

“the beauty in our human existence is that at any point in time, we have the ability to change what our moments consist of.”
Karin Hadadan, Beauty in the Stillness

“Getting your power back Learn how to control your thoughts. Control the words you tell yourself, the reactions you have inside of your mind towards external events, and what you place your attention on. Because it is your inner mental attitude that makes your outside world what it is. The way you think either makes life beautiful or unpleasant. What you tell yourself either makes you feel delighted or disappointed. The things you choose to focus on, good or bad, are what will manifest in your life. Adjust your way of thinking, and your life will transform.”
Karin Hadadan, Beauty in the Stillness

“The partner truly best suited to us is not the one who miraculously happens to share every taste, but the one who can negotiate differences in taste with intelligence and grace.”
Alain de Botton, The Course of Love

“One kind of good book should leave you asking: how did the author know that about me?”
Alain de Botton

“It is perhaps when our lives are at their most problematic that we are likely to be most receptive to beautiful things.”
Alain de Botton, The Architecture of Happiness

“Most of what makes a book 'good' is that we are reading it at the right moment for us.”
Alain de Botton

“Intimacy is the capacity to be rather weird with someone - and finding that that's ok with them.”
Alain de Botton
