COMMON SENSE


I am a white senior citizen who was raised on a Midwestern farm back in the forties and fifties. Common Sense back then was a prerequisite for surviving. Then, in the late 60’s and 70’s things began to change. Pot, long hair, war protesters, riots, and less clothing became the future of America. Then came hard rock, rap with dirty words, more protesters shouting “I WANT MY RIGHTS.” Before all this, you had to earn your RIGHTS. After the turn of the century things began to get out of control. WHY? We have had only two Presidents with any common sense since I was born, Truman and Reagan. Prior to Truman, you may have to go back to Lincoln’s era. Our country is in shambles and NOBODY, except maybe one or two, seems to have any answers as to how to correct our problem. The sad thing is most people in America don’t care one way or another who wins. Trump is trying to sway the people with his brash speeches. Then, there is Ben Carson, a quiet, reserved well-educated former surgeon who doesn’t speak unless he thinks first. Carson has moved up in the polls quietly, even though he hasn’t had any HELP from the PRESS. Both of these men have never been involved in politics before now. A GOOD THING? Hillary is high in the polls, but most people don’t trust her. Why would you vote for someone you don’t trust? Lack of Common Sense. Most Americans don’t think anymore; they run on impulse. That is why Americans are trillions of dollars in debt. Our government has put us in over 19 trillion dollars in debt with no reductions anywhere. Who’s going to stop this ride into HELL? You had better use COMMON SENSE before it is too late.

Our GDP has been and will stay in stagnation until we are pulled out of the quicksand we buried ourselves in. WHO’S to blame? We are all to blame. The Democrats blame the Republicans and vice versa. Our country has the slowest recovery over the past six years of any of the other two previous recoveries. From 2011 till 2014 our economy grew 2% from a forecast of 2.3% generating an enormous cut into our standard of living. Unemployment is down, but is not a true picture. We have more people out of work TODAY than anytime in the history of this country. WHY? We have too many people living off the government and not paying any taxes, thus putting a burden on the country’s budget. Let’s not forget the large corporations not paying their share. Corporate America has filtered thousands of jobs to foreign markets. Government spending is in outer space and climbing everyday. But, of course our political leaders are waddling around doing nothing to correct the problems facing our nation. In fact, they are on recess as I type this. Near ZERO interest generated some interest to boost our economy but only a few took advantage. Now we have banks and credit card companies trying to increase profits by offering zero interest and less than 20% down on home buying. Here we go again. GREED is the common denominator that weakens our country. Wake up America before we are faced with a situation we can’t ever pull ourselves out of. Remember, Lawyers are not financial advisers. Get the lawyers out of Washington.

Just in the last couple of days a Captain in the Boston police department found out his son was getting himself involved in the ISIS program here in the United States of America. That’s right! Suppose this police officer wasn’t trained to question. Thanks to this officer he turned his own son into the FBI. Could you do that? Are you trained to ask questions? Do you really know what your sons and daughters are doing? Do we take any kind of control over what they do behind closed doors? Do we talk to our sons and daughters about what is really going on in this world? Young adults are vulnerable as to which way to go even if they are from an upper class family. Sit down and have conversations with them about the wrongs and rights. Ask them what they are thinking and what they believe. Years ago almost all families sat down every night together at the dinner table and talked. Not today. Parents are too busy and their children are far too busy. I know, busy keeps them out of trouble. Not necessarily so. Peer pressure today is at an all time high. The internet is a valuable tool in our households. But now we have i-phones that send, show, talk, and print anything plugged into it. They are vulnerable 24 -7. These i-phones can haunt you or your child for life if you text the wrong person, receive text from the wrong person, post lewd pictures, etc. These texts or pictures can be retrieved for years to come. Be aware! Within seconds your child could be in big trouble regardless of their age. Do you want that?

Broke is the same as bankrupt. Illinois the land of Lincoln which became a state on December 3rd 1818 or the 21st state is busted. I was born in Illinois over 73 years ago and the state of Illinois was one of the most corrupt states in the union then. They haven‘t changed, only gotten more corrupt. They now have a Republican governor and a Democratic Legislator thus gridlock. See any difference in our own US government. Illinois has over 65,000 employees all UNION MEMBERS. There is nothing wrong with making good money and great benefits but who is paying for these wages? Trouble now, there isn’t near enough money to run the state let alone pay the employees. Caterpillar has held Illinois together for years, but the glue is coming apart. Illinois has the largest deficit of any state in the USA. Illinois is already billions behind in paying its bills and has the nation’s worst-funded state pensions with more than a 100 billion dollar shortfall. How about the UNIONS shortfall? The answer to this horrific problem that is spreading to other states is STOP the CORRUPTION and CUT cost. Greece is in big financial trouble and so are many other countries but we should worry about our country. We are topping 18 trillion dollar debt and growing a trillion a year. A runaway train loaded with greed and corruption. When are we going to STOP voting for money hungry politicians? Please respond.

The major league umpires today are an absolute joke. We now have game delays because some umpires failed to make the right call according to the team manager who requested a review. The game is too long now so we waste more time reviewing and even the people in NYC get it wrong as we the spectators can see on our wide screen TVS. Correct this problem next year by eliminating the umpires and have sophisticated high tech cameras call the game. Save a ton of money and the game would be more fun to watch. I watch Major League Baseball five nights a week and see countless mistakes especially ump’s behind the plate. Ever since the ump has been hiding behind the catcher’s left or right side depending on what side the batter is standing, he can’t visually see the pitch on the opposite side of the plate. The other night an intentional walk was given and the second pitch was right down the middle of the plate and the ump calls a ball. WHAT? Let’s make a change. Great cameras never lie. The truth is instant. Let’s hear your reply or do you want another replay?

I just finished one the best books I have ever read. Tommy Lasorda, My Way. Just released. Incredible! I have been a Dodger fan for many decades and Tommy has been associated with the Dodgers for more decades than me and still is as I write this. If and when you read this book the tears will well up in your eyes if not than your HEART is smaller than dried up pea. Quotes: If you’re so concerned with the door that just closed, you'll never see the door in front of you. Three types of players. Make it Happen; Watches it Happen; Wonders what Happened. The difference between the possible and the impossible is a person’s determination.
Regardless what age you are between 13 and 113, what sex you are, what color you are, what religion you are, this book is definitely for you. If you don't read this book you have lost what you could have learned. Every school system in our country should have every student thirteen and over read Tommy Lasorda, My Way and write a report on it. What a magnificent contribution to our educational system. We need to start somewhere.

The IRS has been collecting your tax dollar since 1862. They started taxation back then to support the AMERICAN CIVIL WAR. The rate was a flat 3%. WOW! Today the IRS is collecting over 2.4 Trillion dollars of your hard earned wages from 234 million taxpayers who filed, of which many don’t pay a damn dime. Billions of these dollars are being flushed down the sewer by our corrupt government. The IRS has over 90,000 employees with a budget of over 11.2 billion per year. They have lost emails yet to be accounted for and NOW they are losing 100,000 plus social security numbers to who the hell knows. The IRS needs to be dissolved NOW. Not one Presidential candidate has come forth and spoke of the corruption in the IRS. This country needs a FLAT TAX. That’s right a FLAT TAX. No DEDUCTIONS! No IRS! Cut 11.2 billion from the budget. The flat tax could start at 7% for every individual, corporation, business and, yes, even our political leaders. Give your comments.

Yes, we are at WAR with people, if you call them people—people who want to destroy not only us, as United States Citizens, but anyone who doesn’t believe in their horrific ways. The question here is who will protect us and who will not protect us? What I mean is: Who will stand up and fight and who will lie down and hope someone protects them? Check out the countries that have surrendered to the enemy. If a true survey were taken tomorrow, approximately 10% of the US population would stand up and fight. Deplorable! Tens of thousands of our forefathers died, but most of them survived as they stood up and fought the enemies that tried to destroy our GREAT NATION. If you want to continue living in a FREE country then you had better be ready to protect your country and your family. This country of ours needs to UNITE as soon as possible in order to PROTECT our country from this HORRIFIC ENEMY. People in our country have chosen to be part of multiple groups, thus SEPARATING us. This separation makes our country WEAKER and our enemies STRONGER. LEAVE the RACE issue and the RELIGION issue in the closet and join together for FREEDOM and PURSUIT of HAPPINESS for ALL. The ENEMY is closer than you think! BE AWARE! Let your CONGRESSMAN KNOW NOW how you feel.

The Gravy Train is about to derail, crash, explode, blowup, burst, and then STOP That’s right—STOP—no more FREE money and food, no more relief, no more social security, no more Medicare, and no more Medicaid. WHY? Our GOVERNMENT has used every cent of what you are supposed to get. They have borrowed from other countries to stay afloat. We are over 18 trillion dollars in debt and now our interest alone is a Trillion Dollars per year. Think about it. We have sent thousands of jobs overseas. No income, thus no income tax paid, no social security paid, no welfare paid from unemployed people. Guess who is making the money? The USA companies that are producing products for our consumers to purchase are reaping the profits and the stockholders are making money. Insurance companies are ripping off you, the consumer, for health insurance. The drug companies are reaping in billions on drug prescriptions that doctors are pushing down your throats. GREED at its finest is leaving you out.

This country has a virus, a virus that has affected our brains, hearts and souls of over 50% of our population. This virus has been around for over twenty years. Don’t worry it will not affect everyone, but some people have died from the virus. The symptoms of this virus are: HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, IRRITABLE BOWELS, HEART BURN, NAUSEA, WORRY, AND DEPRESSION. Doctors and drug companies have no cure for this virus. The only cure is for our political leaders to look in the mirror and then abide by the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence so Help Me GOD. JUSTICE FOR ALL. STOP the CORRUPTION; STOP the DECEIVING PRACTICES; STOP BORROWING MONEY; STOP TALKING in CIRCLES; STOP PAYING PEOPLE NOT TO WORK; and finally STOP LYING to the AMERICAN PEOPLE.
