Book launch in a blizzard
Let there be a note in someone's "Note to Self" handbook: don't hold a book launch in a raging blizzard.
I did. I launched The Strange Gift of Gwendolyn Golden at Yorkdale Indigo in Toronto, on Feb. 1.
It was fun, despite the weather, but I did hear some harrowing stories from book launch attendees about the perils of getting to Yorkdale in whiteout conditions. Then ... finding a place to park!

I'll be interviewed by the wonderful children's lit blogger, Helen Kubiw, and books will be available for online purchase through Another Story Bookshop.
The story takes place in a costume shop, based on a real costume shop run by my extended family. A family member from Thunder Thighs costumes will be at the launch to answer questions about the shop, too! Plus, all book launch attendees will be entered into a draw to win a free costume rental at Thunder Thighs (value @$100).
This isn't the way we usually do book launches, but let's party anyway in the only way we can. My motto these days: we can't hold each other right now, but until we can, it may help to hold a book.
