I started writing as a child and never stopped. I’ve always been interested in what makes things tick and how to explain that. That led to a career as a technology journalist and how-to article and book author. I’ve written dozens of books over my career in some combination of the two.

In the 2010s, I started publish a series of book that combined printing and type history and technology in a variety of ways. These titles include Not To Put Too Fine a Point on It, a collection of essays and reporting; London Kerning, a look at two magnificent London printing collections and the city’s typographical history; Six Centuries of Type & Printing; and How Comics Were Made, a heavily visual history of the production and reproduction of newspaper com

How Comics Are Made by Glenn Fleishman
"A superlative read – for those who want it – this takes us through the world of the funnies – the American newspaper comic strip, not from the stories they told or the people who wrote and drew them, so much, but from the point of view of the technol" Read more of this review »

"I wasn’t sure I’d be quite the right kind of nerd for this book, and in a way I was right—but it was, nevertheless, fascinating to read about the history of comics (in the US). This is also, as the book explains, the history of the development of new" Read more of this review »

Glenn Fleishman is starting Every Man for Himself and God Against All: Tremendously interesting. Herzog has a lot to say but it's a certain kind of arrogant humility: rising from literal starvation as a child, he puts himself repeatedly into the face of nature and destruction. How he prevailed is a matter of luck—maybe will. He makes himself a sacrifice, almost, to the unfeeling nature of the universe he perceives. Yet, he creates and can't stop himself. Beautiful to read.

Impossible to describe. Unique narrative structure. I can only be delighted to have read it even though I would be challenged to explain it. If you like Cloud Atlas, Rakesfall is a much more intense version of that without the chronological structure ...more

“Because it lacks message threading , in which messages take the form of a set of ordered, often nested replies to an initial post, it’s not easy to track specific discussions.”
Glenn Fleishman, Take Control of Slack Basics

“This man is the bee's knees, Arthur, he is the wasp's nipples. He is, I would go so far as to say, the entire set of erogenous zones of every major flying insect of the Western world.”
Douglas Adams, So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
