Keith Foskett has hiked over 12,000 miles in the last few years and holds a deep respect for the outdoor spaces of this world. His adventures form the basis of much of his writing.

The Journey in Between, an account of his 1,000 mile journey on El Camino de Santiago in Spain.

The Last Englishman, an epic adventure along the 2,640 mile Pacific Crest Trail in the United States.

Balancing on Blue, the second of his big hikes in America follows his continued addiction to thru-hiking on the Appalachian trail.

Travelled Far is a short read about his many adventures, both at home in England, the abroad.

A Thru-Hiking Trilogy is a collection of his first three books.

His latest book called High and Low, was released in March 2018.

Hi Kate,
I believe the phrase is ‘If I had a dollar for every time I’ve been asked that question’.
Yes, I know, I kind of left that one open! It wasn’t intentional, I honestly didn’t realise when I wrote the book that I’d left Pockets in the middle of nowhere, both geographically and narratively!
Funny enough we exchanged emails this morning, I’ll be writing a post on my website about the cover photo for The Last Englishman and how it came about (it’s not actually me in the photo).
Pockets / Rockets moved to the Teton mountains. He battled illness after the PCT for two or three years, I think it was something to do with his illness on the trail, and it was pretty serious for a while but he’s OK now and running photography field trips for clients. He’s doing very well, and he’s happy.
Thanks for asking, I intend adding a chapter to the book called something like ‘Whatever happened to Pockets?’ – I think it’s warranted!
I’d really appreciate a review on Amazon if you could, and thank you very much for buying my book.

Hi Snicketts,
Determination would be top. You can have poor gear, be unfit and still make it. I'm not saying kit or fitness wouldn't help, of course they would but if your head is strong, it can overcome pretty much everything.

I’m reading a book a week during 2021. Here are the books I read in April.

I’m reading a book a week during 2021. This is part challenge, part making the time for an activity I’ve always neglected, self-improvement, and to read genres I’d normally consider outside my interest. It’s been surprising so far, and I’m enjoying the process.

Here are the books I read last month.

“Light travels faster than sound – this is why some people appear bright until they speak.”
Keith Foskett, The Journey in Between

“We all carried duct tape. The wide, silver material is easy to tear off yet extremely strong. To save space in our packs, we wound it around trekking poles. We used it for pack repairs, broken sunglasses, ripped clothing and even taped it to our ankles. The strength and slippery surface were ideal for blister prevention. I considered it one of a few truly necessary items.”
Keith Foskett, The Last Englishman

“I have a recurring dream in which I am 85 years old, sitting in my living room, swaying back and forth in a rocking chair, studying the newspaper. I pause, look up and think of all the adventures I could have experienced and say to myself, 'Shit, I should have done that.' That is a scene I am determined will not happen in real life.”
Keith Foskett, The Last Englishman
