Lesley Barklay has taught high school English, German, and History in rural and outback NSW since 2003. She loves bossing people around, reading, writing, editing, and mentoring young writers. Lesley is currently working on an adult fantasy series, a YA scifi series, a Christian romance, and a middle-grade adventure series, because she is a sucker for punishment. Why write one series, when you can write four?

Lesley lives with her husband, twelve-year-old son, nine-year-old daughter, and one chicken in Moree. In her spare time, you can find her procrastinating from writing by watching authortube. That counts, right?

A very enjoyable sequel to the first book, I read it in one sitting, staying up until late in the night to finish it. I was devastated to have to wait a couple of days for the release of book 3.

I wasn't sure when I picked this book up. I love K.M Shea's Timeless Fairytales, I adored her Fairytale Enchantress, and I was more engaged than I thought by The Elves of Lessa...

But this foray into paranormal, well, I just didn't think it would work

I have been re-reading Henderson's books to see how they hold up now that I have a bit more life experience (I first read them when I was in my early twenties, now I'm in my mid-forties). So far, I've enjoyed the O'Malley's, but there were a few thin ...more

If you enjoyed the first two books in the series, you will enjoy this one. It's the best one so far. You get to see Kit utilising her unusual skills to begin her quest to save the heroes of Retha. Plus, you get way more of her and Solus Miles.

If you are a gamer, or a diehard K.M. Shea fan, you will enjoy this book. If you liked book 1 in the series, you will like this even more. We get to spend more time with Solus Miles, and the pace picked up.

I'm excited to see what book 3 has in store.

“firmly.”
Lesley Barklay, Road to Bethlehem

“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”
C.S. Lewis

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”
C.S. Lewis

“Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.”
C.S. Lewis

“I'm fully aware," Firth told a reporter for the English magazine Now, "that if I were to change professions tomorrow, become an astronaut and be the first man to land on Mars, the headlines in the newspapers would read: `Mr. Darcy Lands on Mars.”
Colin Firth

“Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! - I have as much soul as you, - and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you!”
