There are so many books I loved growing up, but the first book that made me think, "I want to try and write thrillers like this" was actually Matthew Reilly's "Scarecrow". If that is a genre you read, it's fast-paced and I highly recommend it. All the best.(less)

You know when I first wrote my thriller series about 15 years ago, I set it in Australia and agents told me I would be better off setting it in the USA for a wider market. So I rewrote the Mitchell Parker series and set it in Washington. In the last decade, a lot more Australian-based books have had huge local success so this is my second book set at 'home'. It is much easier and safer because I know the language and nuances are correct. With "Ophelia Adrift" I went and lived in the shipwreck village for a year to write it. I hope you enjoy it. Have a great holiday! Cheers, Helen x(less)
