“He wanted Charlotte's happiness more than his own. But how much greater would his own be if they were together? Somehow, sometime---maybe when she flirted with him over sour ale, maybe when she bandaged his arm---she had come to rest upon his heart.
Somehow, he had come to love her.”

“Let me help," said Benedict. "Let me do this for you."
He took the spade from her hand, allowing her to step back and stand beside Maggie. To slip an arm around her crying daughter.
With smooth, slow movements, he turned over the earth. Quietly, doing what needed to be done with a graciousness that meant everything.
And that was when she realized: she had fallen in love with him.”

“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.”

Hi, Lucinda--thanks for finding me! I love history too and always love to chat about books. I do most of my posting within this romance discussion group: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/3... It's a private group, but the moderators allow membership to anyone who requests it. Lots of history fans over there, too.
Best wishes and happy reading!
Theresa
Dear Theresa, Thank you for being my friend here on Goodreads. I adore historical fiction (from Diana Gabaldon, to Susan Fraser king and Anne Clinard Barnhill to Ken Follett to name but a few of my favorites), hence i do hope to be able to read some of your work in the future.
Thank you and i very much look forward to future book discussions.
Kind Regards
Lucinda x

Friends, I know I'm quiet on this page. But I'm part of a really fun historical romance discussion group here on Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/3... If this looks like your thing, ask a moderator to join--they're a wonderful bunch, and the group will welcome you right in!
Dear friends: I have some good news! No: GREAT news. Season for Temptation will get a sequel! Kensington Zebra will publish SEASON FOR SURRENDER in October 2012.
Thanks to everyone who entered the ARC giveaway of SEASON FOR TEMPTATION! I'll be sending books to the two winners within the next day. Hope you both enjoy it!
