Hello. In chronological order: during the year after high school graduation I was a stockyard worker, delivery truck driver, repo vehicle driver, and bank teller-- only the teller's job was full time I took night classes at a community college, but that made me draft bait for Vietnam War. I enlisted Air Force, served tours in VN as a codebreaker of enemy radio/voice transmissions. GI Bill paid for college (first on either side of family to get a degree). 21-year newspaper career, 3-year co-publisher of city magazine and typesetting/graphic arts shop (failure). Your best bet would be to submit to independent publishers; major publishers rarely consider manuscripts from authors not represented by an agent. You could try an agent. Be careful, though, because some will charge an upfront fee. Don't do that.(less)

The problem concerned side margins for chapters beginning with a faux "table of content" (for Vanguard, the magazine). I tried flush left with spacing, flush right with spacing and finally gave up. I placed the page numbers on a separate line. This isn't done in the real world, but I hoped it would be acceptable to readers. Thank you for asking. JCL(less)
