David J Gale's work blends literary fiction, speculative themes, and emotional depth. He is the author of The Dark Street Chronicles, Daniel, Drug Runner, Paradise Road and the Long Boulevard and the Second Light series (with Ellis Thorne).
Gale's stories often explore solitude, memory, and the inner life of his characters, set against richly atmospheric backdrops
When not writing, he works on visual art, family history, and novels-in-progress that blur the line between what was lived and what might have been.

Tess of the Ubervilles by Thomas Hardy, Life of Johnson by Boswell and currently Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. Others I plan to read this year are Notes from the Underground by Dostoyevsky and Look Homeward Angel by Thomas Wolfe. The language can be difficult in these but there's a lot of inspiration in the great writers and the stories they construct. (less)
David J Gale I am primarily a fiction writer so the best thing for me is the creation of fictional worlds and the characters and stories that populate them.

Winter and settled after a new move.
I've updated all of my current work on Kindle, 7 novels, a series of short stories and a poetry chapbook.
I have a half dozen new works in progress and am working on two in particular that I think will be good subject matter for a traditional agent/publisher approach.
I am also working on establishing my own presence online as an indie author so I can direct ma Read more of this blog post »

T.S. Eliot
“We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
Through the unknown, remembered gate
When the last of earth left to discover
Is that which was the beginning;
At the source of the longest river
The voice of the hidden waterfall
And the children in the apple-tree
Not known, because not looked for
But heard, half-heard, in the stillness
Between two waves of the sea.

—T.S. Eliot, from “Little Gidding,” Four Quartets (Gardners Books; Main edition, April 30, 2001) Originally published 1943.”
