I live near the historical part of the shore where I write blogs, short stories, that novel I want to finish and making to-do lists.

The setting around me is loaded with history open to explore whether it's in books or driving around. I could have any number of podcasts or purchased music to listen to while I explore this world.

Writing Critique groups are a big help when it comes to practicing my craft. I used to be part of the local Writer's Group, The Writer's Block, and the writers that met at the Barnes and Noble.

To start each morning right, I look up Sally Forth, Pearls Before Swine, Drabble, Pickles, Peanuts comics.

Music is important for inspiring creativity. The music I look to depends on my mood or scene. I have every Springsteen

When I finish I get to talk to other writers who lose themselves in their worlds and we compare our worlds. We recommend other writers and other worlds. There's solitude when I type, but I still with my characters, then there's a community of authors and readers, like here, where we share all these experiences. (less)

Some of the people there never published and still haven't published to this day. Some members were published. By published, I mean wrote manuals for companies, wrote articles for newspapers, wrote for the community newsletter. Writer doesn't mean books. I met with others who wanted to communicate. "Writer" didn't mean a certain standard, it meant seriousness to communicate. So I considered myself a writer when I could hobnob with these writers in various stages of the game. (less)

Say Only Good Things- Crystal Hefner and legacy

I recently got the audio book version of “Say Only Good Things.” I put a positive review on Goodreads. Her story is interesting and there is a hopeful end for her. Perhaps you will never hear of her and she may be fine with that.

This post is about Hugh Hefner. Many years ago he was portrayed as this suave guy surrounded by women and money. Playboy magazine had nudity and that for many was the

"I admit that although I am a Billy Joel fan- I didn’t know much about him. I found this a fascinating account of his life and career. It follows his quite difficult childhood.

Billy Joel by Fred Schruers
"The rating pings between 3 and 4 stars but since Joel, like his friend Springsteen, is one of our tri-state (PA/NJ/DE) musical heroes from the 70's/80's I'll lean on the complimentary side. Author Schruers does a nice job with the family tree details" Read more of this review »

Billy Joel by Fred Schruers
"I think most celebrity biographies are dullest in the opening chapters and only really get interesting as the person's career takes off, but I had the opposite experience with "Billy Joel" -- Joel's family history is fascinating, for fans as well as " Read more of this review »

This is better than I thought it would be. The one off-putting aspect is that the author goes off on tangents and goes off story timeline at times. That gets annoying. He races through the making of “Glass Houses.” Too bad, I liked that album.
