Shannon Riley (she/her) grew up covertly sharing, during lunch period, gore stories starring her friends and family rather than catching up in math class. She is the author of the revenge novella Pocketknife Kitty (Ghoulish Books, 2024), and her short fiction has been seen in the Dark Blooms: Girls' Coming-of-Age Horrors anthology, in PUNK Goes Horror (Truborn Press), as well as various other spooky places online. She lives with her husband and daughter in a mediumish suburb outside of Pittsburgh. If you like chatting about 2000s emo and post-hardcore music, you can go yell at her on IG @shannon_wryly, or @shannon_said on Twitter. ...more

The front half was stronger than the second half, which at times felt a little too bloated for me. Some unclear motives and actions, and not an entirely exciting climax, although the surprise at the end was a fun bonus.

I feel so lucky and grateful to have come across a book like this, a story about my two favorite things: writing and music. Deep Cuts puts us in the perspective of Percy, a fresh out of high school music lover and writer. I am a music enjoyer and a w ...more

A fun, somewhat surreal domestic horror. Reminiscent of Kafka (I refuse to use "Kafkaesque"), puzzling, and circular in its logic as we follow our main character through a series of events, resulting in hopelessness after mounting hopelessness.

What a strange little book, more ominous and subtle than I honestly expected, which is saying a lot, considering how graphic some moments were.

Interesting and thoughtful meditations on being a stranger, feeling out of place in a world, in a country,

“Perhaps kids really did come into the world trailing clouds of glory, as Wordsworth had so confidently proclaimed, but they also shit in their pants until they learned better.”
Stephen King, Doctor Sleep

“Age is a terrible thief. Just when you're getting the hang of life, it knocks your legs out from under you and stoops your back. It makes you ache and muddies your head and silently spreads cancer throughout your spouse.”
Sara Gruen, Water for Elephants

Andy Weir
“I chipped his sacred religious item into long splinters using a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. I figure if there's a God, He won't mind, considering the situation I'm in. If ruining the only religious icon I have leaves me vulnerable to Martian vampires, I'll have to risk it.”

“True love is the best thing in the world, except for cough drops.”
William Goldman, The Princess Bride

“I guess the most amazing thing about crying though is that when you're in it, you think it'll go on forever but it never really lasts half what you think. Not in terms of real time. In terms of real emotions, it's worse than you think, but not by the clock.”

Rob Full Moon in January 💕 Happy New Year 💕
✌ Rob ☮

The Wolf Moon on the Night between 1 and 2 January 2018 is a Supermoon.
The following Full Moon is also in January, on the 31. It has no given name,
which makes it a Blue Moon. However, this particular Blue Moon will likely look red in some areas, because it will cause a total lunar eclipse, also known as a Blood Moon.
