The harsh truth that he would never again feel their warm embrace filled him with a profound loneliness, tears welling in his eyes."

While it may not fit the conventional definition of horror, it is a nightmare that haunts me—a terror I find myself reliving repeatedly in my own dreams.(less)

The trailer sat atop the ruins of an old tenant house that had burned down, though my knowledge of its history is limited. What remains vividly etched in my memory are the footsteps echoing in the hall, unsettling noises, and even faces peering through the windows. One particular incident still haunts me: I awoke one night to the chilling sensation of an icy hand gripping the back of my neck. I bolted out of bed and raced toward the door, fumbling to switch on the light. I dared not look back, convinced that something was pursuing me. When I finally flicked on the switch, there was nothing there, yet I could still feel the hand's lingering presence. Now at 50, I often wonder if it was merely a night terror, but I no longer trust my memory of those events enough to be certain. Regardless, the fear was so profound that I slept with the covers over my neck all through high school.(less)

When it comes to editing, I have a bit of a unique proces Read more of this blog post »
