The last place I remember seeing people that were supposed to be my parents was in Kansas. A tornado swept me up and gave me a bird's eye view of what the world was like and thus triggered my love to travel and write stories about what I saw. Because of my dislike for math, my desire to write stories grew until the pencil and paper became constant companions in my life.
My first published work was a poem in a community newspaper. From that moment I knew I loved the creative process of storytelling. I continued to write for local newspapers around the country and submitting my work to magazines like Walking and Healthcare Traveler. My 'Letters to the Editor' appeared in Writer's Digest and O, The Oprah Magazine to name a few.

Hello Dren and welcome!

I meet readers in several ways. As a travel dialysis nurse, I've come across a lot of readers in clinics and hospitals. When they find out that I am a writer, it sparks an interest and a request for the title of my book (s). On one contract that I worked for three months in ICU, the nurses and I got to know each so well that I was invited to attend their book club meeting with my book as the chosen read! I was not only flattered but had a great time.

In restaurants I dine alone but I am never without a book or magazine propped up with my portable book stand. On occasion, someone will stop by to inquire what I'm reading and find that I'm a writer and strike up a conversation.
I've met readers at gift shops, while sightseeing(the back of my truck window reads, writerontheroadway.com and various other places. I carry postcards that have the cover titles printed on them and when people inquire about my writing I hand these out along with other goodies that seem to make people smile.

I look forward to the day I can meet my readers during a book signing or conference. I love the interaction with those that I have met and look forward to more. I am always grateful to readers that have taken the time to seek out my work. It's an honor to know that for a while my characters have become a part of your life.(less)

I think because I stay on the move with road trips to different places or take naps to allow my brain and body to rest, it prevents the 'evil block' to take place.
I usually have different projects going on all the time so ideas are constantly flowing.(less)

Breakout!

Hello everyone! First things first. I want to say the past two months were hectic ones. As I worked a contract that handled the last vestiges of the Covid-19 virus, the hours became long and tiring. It was nothing to work 21 hours, rest one day and return to it all over again. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining because that is what we, as nurses, do. The medical profession, in times of war an Read more of this blog post »

Lila Johnson Hello Tracey!
Thank you so much for making The Fat Girls Club a reading selection for your group this month. I'm honored and hope you and your friends enjoy the introduction to the girls in this, the first book in a new series that I've started. I'm currently working on the second book that takes place in Paris, France.
Enjoy, and have fun as Nicki, Angela and Sissy take you on their life's journey. I look forward to your feedback.
Love, Life and Light,
Lila
