Charles L. Chatmon is a Los Angeles–based author of urban fiction, poetry, and Black speculative storytelling. His work explores the lived experiences, history, and imagination of South Central Los Angeles, blending community‑rooted narratives with themes of resilience, memory, and transformation. He is the author of The Voices of South Central, Storm Over South Central, RELAY, It’s All About Fate, Strange Tales of Science Fiction, and multiple poetry collections.

A longtime journalist and literary advocate, Charles serves as Director of the AC Bilbrew Writers Workshop, one of Los Angeles’ longest‑running Black literary institutions. He has also contributed to the Los Angeles Black Book Expo and has spent more than two decades documenting an ...more
