After graduating from The University of Sheffield with an English Literature Masters in 2003, Melanie has been writing fiction - time permitting - ever since.

'Hope's Daughter', released in December 2011, was Melanie's debut novel and the first release from The Ambrosia Sequence, a YA dystopian series. The companion book 'The Rainbow Maker's Tale' was released in late 2013.

Children's book 'Faris and Jack' came out in 2016, bringing magic, horses and Hoofers together in an exciting new adventure story. Three further books in the 'Faris' series are planned, the next due for release in early 2018.

Melanie's latest YA project - due in 2023 - is 'Cirque de la Nuit' a stand-alone paranormal novel, before she returns to completing The Ambrosia Seq

I'm also still finalising 'Cirque de la Nuit' my stand alone YA novel. Lots to be done, but it's not always easy to find the time when you're a part-time writer :) (less)

My latest book is 'Faris and the Monoceros' - the second book in the Faris series, which is aimed at readers 7+.

I knew when I was going into writing the book that this one would be about an adventure that gave Faris the chance to explore more of the new world he was living in. There were also hints about the darker side of this world dropped at the end of the first book.

The main influence for the setting is Dante's 'Inferno' - it is a journey into darkness. Anyone familiar with the path the pilgrim takes in 'Inferno' will find little nods to it as Faris and his friends go on their journey into Eclivity. The other element which develops in this book is the link between the magical creatures and myths and legends of the British Isles - spriggans and figlia faeries are both associated with this region. In this book, I blend more of these mythological creatures with ones of my own creation, to build the wider magical world seen in The Core and Eclivity. (less)

I pull the car into empty space at the side of the road. There’s no crunch of tyres, no engine idling, none of the stereotypes of this action that books and films would use to tell me I had stopped driving. All is quiet and empty. Quiet and empty in the world outside as much as it is silent inside my head.

So now, I sit and I wait. Waiting for nothing. Waiting for everythin

Kirsty (Amethyst Bookwyrm) Thanks for the add!

message 7: by Anne

Anne Thanks for being my friend. Hope you have a good day.

♥ Rebecca ♥ Ok thanks. :) I will definitely be reading The Rainbow Maker's Tale.

Melanie Cusick-Jones It is a bit confusing I'll admit and have debated how to number myself for a while. What I've gone with is:

The Rainbow Maker's Tale as Book 2: it covers similar timeframe to Hope's Daughter, but is from Balik's point of view. So if you wanted to, you could jump straight to Book 3 from 1, if you want to stay with Cassie. Outlanders is the sequel to Hope's Daughter and follows on from Book 1, in Cassie's point of view.

Not overly straight forward I know, but it will make sense when the series goes through - promise! :)

♥ Rebecca ♥ I have a question about your books. The Rainbow Maker's Tale says it is Book 2 in The Ambrosia Sequence in the blurb. Outlanders says it is the sequel to Hope's Daughter. So, which one is next in the series? I was thinking of The Rainbow Maker's Tale as a bonus up till now, that Outlanders was #2, and that there would be a third after that (for no reason other than to make it a trilogy. Rather presumptuous, I know). So, how's this really work? :)

Melanie Cusick-Jones Hi Jason - I'm good thanks - are you?

Thanks for the friend invite :)
