Discipline is probably what gets you to the end of your story. But I also find myself slacking, finding excuses not to write and thinking 'I just don't know!' It happens. Sometimes I just accept it, sometimes I fight it, and sometimes all you have to do is sit down, write something you know you'll probably throw away, and you find you're working again. It might not be the Project you wanted to work on, but it's more important to stay in a flow than just stubbornly stare at a blank page, in my opinion.

Writer's block, lastig concept. In mijn optiek heeft schrijven vaak meer met discipline dan inspiratie te maken, maar ook dan wil het niet altijd. Ik luier ook wel, zoek excuses om niet te schrijven, of weet het gewoon even niet. Soms accepteer ik dat gewoon, soms vecht ik ertegen, en soms ga ik dan gewoon maar wat anders schrijven, iets waarvan ik weet dat het door niemand anders zal worden gelezen, en plotseling gaat het weer. Misschien werk je dan niet aan je Grote Project, maar je bent wel in beweging. En dat is nog altijd beter dan staren naar een blanco pagina.(less)

Het mooiste is, net als in mijn musical-werk, dat ik extra levens mag leven. Ik mag iemand anders zijn, diens pijn, verdriet, vreugde. Mijn leven is zoveel rijker doordat ik schrijf!(less)
