Wow!
Time is an insane concept! We should form a committee to slow it down! I vote YES!
I won't bore you with all that has happened in the last year, just 2 words: heart attack! It put a serious dent in my writing career.
But I'm back now and really enjoying finishing up book #4 of my 'Arlo and Jake' Scifi adventure series with a smile. The series has the smiles, not me. Hmm. well, you get it.
I have an Amazon Giveaway in progress for book #3 'Arlo and Jake Lost Partner'. Grab a copy and have some fun. Here's the link:
https://giveaway.amazon.com/p/86ebbe3...
After Book #4 I have several book ideas that have been percolating on the back burner. And I'm going to revisit some of my current books to see if I can add some meat to their bones. Most of my reviewers say they like my books but feel they are too short. I'll take that as a newbie learning moment and work on it.
Check out my giveaway and have a great Spring. Ah the flowers in Texas are exploding in color!

Google Hangout with Paul Levinson!
I did my first Google Hangout Event with author/professor Paul Levinson!
You can check out my blog post at garyalanhenson.blogspot.com.
It was low key and fun! He's released 'Loose Ends', a Time Travel novella originally released in Analog magazine in 1997.
We talked writing about TT and it's appeal to authors and readers alike.
I'll be back to find other author Hangouts and get more info/tips. What a great concept!

Writing is a serious business
I'm in the last few thousand words of 'Arlo and Jake Lost Partner', the third installment of the series. Whew, it's bloody hard! ;-)
Imagine herding cats, uphill, in the snow, blindfolded with one arm and one leg tied behind your back. Oh, and you don't know where the sink holes are up ahead. Yeah, that pretty much gives you a feeling for it.
But, 'yes', I still truly enjoy writing. In fact my list of 'To Be Written' outlines is constantly growing! I must have 50 or 60 serious contenders for full length and short stories, all waving their tiny little hands up, crying 'pick me next', 'no, you freak, he's gonna pick me!'. Very distracting.
I can write. I'm not and never will be a main stream author. That's fine, no problem with that. When I write, that small boy inside me gets that silly grin on his face like he's eating the ice cream cone of the summer. It's incredibly rewarding.
I'm not so good at marketing. I'm trying! I'm getting more active on GR, twitter, Amazon. If I learn of a new way to get my books in front of new readers, I try it, with zeal!
I other news, I'm meeting some awesome new readers and writers here on GR. Just read 'The Fence' by Pete Carter. Check out my review. Action, action, action. Get it!
As soon as I kick Arlo #3 out the door, I'm off to rewrite Genome and start on a sequel! Wish me luck!

Whoo Hoo, I'm being interviewed!
The always wacky I.B. Nosey interviews me on his web site. It's a hoot!
Please stop by and leave a note. We wouldn't want the Nose to run away!
(my apologies, too much time trading puns with my granddaughter this weekend... ;-)

Fahrenheit 451 revisited
The last time I read this novel was in 68 or 69. I remember it being a favorite of my at the time.
Rereading it now makes me think I'm a victim of my own over active imagination.
I don't recognize any of the first section, up to the point where Montag just notice the girl is missing.
OK, it's been a long time but sheesh!
It's a good read, and strangely relevant with today's issues of immersion into the fantasy of TV/media of all kind.
Anyone else have this problem?
Does it seem 'different' to you?

Reading 'Prince of the City: The Cats Whiskers' by Mackenzie Brown
I'm a fan of Mr. Brown already, so I was intrigued by his new book, 'The Prince of the City: The Cat's Whiskers'.
Writing 40's style crime novels is an art that few dare anymore, mores the shame. But Mackenzie Brown has nailed it.
In this novel, Mackenzie Brown has brought to life a wonderful gumshoe who grabs you and pulls you into the story. You care about Vic Prince and his struggles as a black detective in war torn Liverpool.
Great supporting characters, multiple plot lines that are not obvious and smooth dialog.
I'm hoping there is more to come!

The Divine Comedy recommendations?
I'm finding it impossible to guess which edition/publisher to get this classic.
Please, if you have experience with this book and have a recommendation for the 'best' book to buy, let me know.
Thank you!

Inferno
Dan Brown has grabbed me again.
It's an instantly engaging story, great characters, wonderful visuals and a plot I haven't figured out yet ;-)
If only my eyes would not fail me late at night, I could stay up and read more.
AND, now I have to read 'The Divine Comedy'! by Dante Alighieri to boot!
Hope you get a chance to run through the Boboli Gardens with me soon!
Fun!

Lydia Aswolf interview!
I got lucky. I've been interviewed on #BlogTalkRadio by Lydia Aswolf @LydiaAswolf
What a hoot! Lydia rocks!
It was an absolute blast to talk about writing as an ePub author, where the ideas come from, how hard it is to get noticed and lots of other cool stuff.
We talked about Genome, my first book and about my SciFi series 'Arlo and Jake'.
Stop by and listen.

It lives!!! 'Arlo and Jake: Galactic Boot Camp' is out!
Book Two of the 'Arlo and Jake' series is out!
The adventure continues as our heroes are shipped to Camp Balator, a Federation of Thirteen Galaxies (FTG) boot camp, reserved for the cream of the crop recruits. The training is designed to push recruits to their limits and beyond.
Jake and Arlo meet new friends and become part of a Triad, a group of three recruits and their partners. Together they struggle to make it through the intensive training and get back the FTG Triumph, where Pixie and Leeta eagerly await their return.
But there are other forces in the Universe who have nefarious plans for the prestigious camp; deadly plans.
Can Jake make it through boot camp a second time or is he headed for another Captain's Mast?
Can they even make it out alive?
Why does danger always seems to follow our intrepid duo?
