I'm an aspiring writer, but I'm dealing with two things: I get discouraged every single day because 96% of manuscripts are rejected, and I haven't had an idea for years, literally. There's too many people wanting to be writers, and knowing there's so much competition just kills me a little every day. When I get motivated, immediatly something appears about the industry that kills it. Any tips on how to deal with this?

Thank you for contacting me. I wish I had a more encouraging response for you, but you're not alone in your frustration. Many authors are feeling your plight and disappointment. You can try self-publishing as a way to circumvent the rejections from publishing houses, but it's not easy to build a following in today's literary market. You ultimately need to write because you love it, not because you want to make any money at it. Very few authors earn enough money to make it worth their time. We write for the love of telling stories, and those who can earn a living doing so are a few lucky ones in a sea of undiscovered, yet talented authors.

One thing you should try to remember is that your talent does not equal your success. I know many wonderful, talented authors that are struggling to make it in this industry. :)
