Writing poetry and making up stories since she was a child, Ann only began to write for publication when her children left home. Her ambition was to write science fiction, but, fascinated by Swansea Castle and distracted by a major stroke she researched local history, an interest that culminated in the publication of her first book Alina, The White Lady of Oystermouth at Easter 2012. Early retirement gave her more time to concentrate on her writing.

The sales of over 300 copies of Alina in local shops and museums, and at speaking engagements, led to a second local history book, Broken Reed: The Lords of Gower and King John in September 2013, and then to The Mag

But if I could avoid the troubles, I would love to live in the London of Matthew Smith, the Midnight Mayor. Take a look at the first book A Madness of Angels by Kate Griffin. She brings London to life with an undercurrent of magic and supernatural power (and there's a dragon). Delicious!(less)

I keep an eye out for author promotions and follow a few authors, and grab new books that catch my eye. I hope other people will do the same for me. So I rarely know what I'm going to be reading, but usually have four or five downloaded waiting to be read. I've just finished The Secret of Spellshadow Manor, which is promoted as being the next Harry Potter, which made me skeptical, but it's true. I loved it and immediately bought the second book. Now looking for the third. I've just started Machinations which has me looking forward to bed each night, since bed is where I read. I also recommend Patty Jansen's Ambassador series which I follow closely. Waiting for the next book to come out.(less)

This book is another triumph. The pairing of Atkins and Palmer is great: the conflict, the adjustments, learning to work together. And the mystery of the case is well constructed. A real page-turner. Highly recommended.
