My mom has rheumatoid arthritis and struggles with a lot of pain. One day she told me that she and my Aunt Kathy didn't want to grow old. "Eighty and out," she said. "That's our plan." When she said that, the line jumped out at me, and I felt it was a good idea for a story.
And just for fun, I had the designer put a photo of my mom and Aunt Kathy on the book cover.(less)
