Kathleen Reid is the author of four works of fiction: Paris Match, A Page Out of Life, Sunrise in Florence and Secrets in the Palazzo; she has won numerous Indie Awards in Contemporary Romance and Romantic Suspense. Kathleen loves art history and carefully weaves extensive research into her novels. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) Book Club selected Secrets in the Palazzo, a story about the rivalry between Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, for a program highlighting their European collection. It was not until I was standing in the Sistine Chapel years later looking at Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam that the spark ignited. I wondered what if Michelangelo had painted those hands clasped: What would it mean for mankind? Is God really closer than we think? How would art historians see this message? As an art enthusiast, it was easy for me to create my main character Rose Maning, who is passionate about the life and works of this iconic artist.(less)

A Week in Rome

What's not to love about the Eternal City? I'm enthralled by the art, culture, food and history of Rome. My husband and I recently rented a one-bedroom apartment by the Spanish Steps to celebrate our anniversary. Our location was perfect because we could walk everywhere.
