Famous Monsters Of Wait... What The Hell

Yep just as I was getting used to my life being really strange, I turn around and suddenly I'm being reviewed by Famous Monsters Of Filmland.

http://famousmonsters.com/reviews/boo...

What the hell.

This was a huge honor.

Bryce’s Recent Updates

Houston
Houston is on page 33 of 369 of Inherent Vice: A book I finished a week prior to starting this also features a character named Jade, and a book I’m reading concurrent to this also takes place during the Nixon presidency. As a loose believer in patterns, I think I’m making the right reading choices right now.

It feels like damning it with faint praise to say that I understand why this book is popular, but I 100 percent understand why this book is popular.

It is somehow just enough on nearly every level. The characters are just deep enough to be interestin

King Suckerman by George P. Pelecanos
"Pelecanos tears ass through a righteous 1976-Washington DC, ears pumped full of Curtis and Jimi and Marvin and 12 gauge buckshot. A novel about how broken boys become broken men, and the cycle of American violence we still cannot solve."

“What molds us is what maims us.”
Dennis Lehane, The Given Day

David Mitchell
“Adverbs are cholesterol in the veins of prose. Halve your adverbs and your prose pumps twice as well.”
David Mitchell, The Bone Clocks

“I consider how you don't get to choose whom you're attracted to, you only get to wonder about it retrospectively.”
David Mitchell, The Bone Clocks

David Mitchell
“Power is lost or won, never created or destroyed. Power is a visitor to, not a possession of, those it empowers. The mad tend to crave it, many of the sane crave it, but the wise worry about its long-term side effects. Power is crack cocaine for your ego and battery acid for your soul. Power’s comings and goings, from host to host, via war, marriage, ballot box, diktat, and accident of birth, are the plot of history. The empowered may serve justice, remodel the Earth, transform lush nations into smoking battlefields, and bring down skyscrapers, but power itself is amoral.” Immaculée Constantin now looks up at me. “Power will notice you. Power is watching you now. Carry on as you are, and power will favor you. But power will also laugh at you, mercilessly, as you lie dying in a private clinic, a few fleeting decades from now. Power mocks all its illustrious favorites as they lie dying. ‘Imperious Caesar, dead and turn’d to clay, might stop a hole to keep the wind away.”
David Mitchell, The Bone Clocks

G.K. Chesterton
“The great Gaels of Ireland are the men that God made mad,
For all their wars are merry, and all their songs are sad.”
G.K. Chesterton, The Ballad of the White Horse
