Can I Count on Your Vote?

I know all of you have been waiting patiently for a new book, and I want to thank you for your continued support. I'm happy to announce that I've finished my newest mystery, Splintered.

I’m trying to get the book published with Amazon’s imprint, Kindle Press. I’m hoping that by signing a publishing contract with them, I’ll get the one thing I’m in sore need of—visibility. Since thousands of new books are uploaded to Amazon each week, it's extremely hard for an author to gain traction in such a cluttered marketplace. But with Amazon’s marketing machine behind me, this could give my writing career the boost it needs.

Amazon decides which books to publish using their website, Kindle Scout. It’s a unique forum where they ask readers to vote for the titles they’d like to see in print. This voting system helps Amazon gauge the potential popularity of a book.

So I’m asking if you’ll visit Kindle Scout and vote for Splintered by November 17. If my book gets enough votes, it will be marked as Hot Trending. And if that happens, an Amazon editor will read my manuscript and decide if they want to publish it. The best part is that all voters get a FREE e-book copy of Splintered if it’s published!

Stay tuned and I’ll post about my campaign numbers in a couple of weeks.

3rd Annual Name a Character Contest

Have you ever wanted to see your name in a published book or short story? Well now's your chance. I've decided that before I concentrate on writing the next installment in the Detective Kate Springer series, I will write a short story that has been haunting me for months. It's called My Blue Nightmare, and it will be the first short story in a boxed set that I'm eventually going to create once at least three stories are finished. I'm already on chapter 3 of My Blue Nightmare so I really need a suggestion for a name that would fit one of my characters!

To enter the 3rd Annual Name a Character Contest, just sign up for my author newsletter. In the form's bottom field suggest the name you'd like to see used in my story. Give me a first name, last name, or both, your name, parent's name or dog's name—it doesn't matter, just suggest a name. I'll post the winning entry on my Facebook page, on my website, and in an upcoming author newsletter.

During the 2nd Annual Name a Character contest held for my latest novel, Splintered, the winning name was Lily Eastin entered by Jennifer Schusterman. I loved the name Lily Eastin so much, she became the major character of the protagonist's mom.

The contest is running now until March 12, 2016. Good luck everyone!
